....as he played a very solid football game especially in the 2nd Half. He was Johnny on the spot on a few big situational plays. He more than once was the player that made a tackle for a loss early in the downs to force GT into calling a play outside their comfort zone.
Whenever we were able to get GT in 3rd or more importantly 2nd & long it allowed us to play our defense in a totally different way. Soto got after Justin Thomas & put 1 hit on him that rang his bell a bit as Thomas was much less aggressive after that play.
Once again we are playing & winning as a Team. Always someone stepping up to make a play. Maturity is a big part of where these kid's have come from to where they are today. While there is no mistaking the impact of Coach Duzz & Conklin's arrival let's not dismiss that many of these kid's have grown up. The lumps they have taken in previous years as players playing prematurely because of total lack of upperclass talent & depth when they arrived has gone a long way toward making them the players they are today.
It goes a long way toward the type of individuals that we began recruiting when Chryst took over. It is very similar to the way Coach Dantonio & Duzz evaluated kids at MSU. Hard working, diligent, intense, dedicated, unselfish can go a long way toward making up for superior talent when that is what you have to pick from.
I think it's a big reason that Coach Duzz jumped at the Pitt job when we came calling. He knew that the foundation had been started to a big extent because he knew many of these players from recruiting.
