Amazing Barnes story

Barnes made a horrendous hire and Stallings deserves some of the blame. If I were a search engine programmer and about to get fired by my employer, and then I used my connections to get an even better job working on search engines for Google, I should be aware that some people will be questioning the hire.

I agree. I have never seen such a thing and KS and his family didn't deserve it. Barnes was a tool and most of the venom that should have gone to him went to KS.
The venom at that presser was to Barnes.
Who doubled down by not only calling the fans upset with the hire “Noise” but slso by suggesting anyone who doubted it “was in the wrong place.”

He was a dick who was rightfully drilled by the media , in an uncharacteristic show of spine from the media.

Stallings deserves some of the blame for being hired?

Just ridiculous to say stuff like that

Barnes should have all of that venom that was directed toward him. I don’t like Stallings, but he and his family didn’t ask for this. He took his lifeline and Barnes and his cronies made asses of themselves, then bailed and left town.

The blame for the abysmal season is entirely on Stallings, but the blame for the hire and backlash is all on Barnesy Boy and the big mouth, big money, empty headed boosters (Patrick Gallegher of PGT Trucking and others). Let them pay for the buyout entirely. Stallings deserves his money for dealing with incompetency with the Pitt administration and boosters.

Yes, the come clean stuff was at Barnes. I think they got caught unexpectedly when people connected the dots, expected Stallings to be announced as some guy who was going to save the program, but the whole thing felt flat from the start. Hopefully with the next coach we will have a clean start, versus having to come clean.

How about for failing spectacularly?

I think I’ve addressed that several times.

No matter the extenuating circumstances he has no one to blame for his predicament other than himself. He just didn’t do good enough.

But that doesn’t mean people should make ridiculous claims like the one above

I like this additional tweet from that same guy..

That press conference was the most contentious, awkward, and adversarial thing I've covered in my 12 years. I've been to murder scenes and house fires that had less tension. That's not a joke. I'm serious.
The press conference was the most entertaining thing to happen with Pitt BB the last two years.

To me it's pretty simple:
1. The whole search, and hiring process was mostly Barnes' responsibility, and to a
degree on those above Barnes (President etc.). As we all know, in the real world
a Personnel Director and a search committee may be doing the search, and conducting
the interviews, but the final decision comes from "above." Barnes made the
recommendation and it was approved. So I see fault in BOTH camps.

2. Regardless of the search, interview process, recommendation, and approval......the
results of the past two seasons rest squarely on Stallings' shoulders. It's HIS team,
HIS players, HIS recruits, HIS coaching (practice, game preparations, and game results).
Once he starts working as Pitt's head coach it's all on him.
Now, it's back to the AD, Pres, and those above to make a decision. It's now on THEM
again.
That's life in the fast lane folks......both for the coach and the decision makers.

Yeah the noise comment was pure arrogance and complete lack of awareness

The stallings hire would have been bad had he been replacing a coach who was performing very poorly and had been fired. It’s incredibly bad considering who he replaced. Barnes for sur deserves all the wrath he’s gotten

However I think Gallagher deserves some blame as well. You’d have to have been beamed down from Mars not to know stallings was a horrible hire even with a limited budget
