As stated, way back 3 years ago, I think Scott Orndoff is a NFL Sleeper Players and the same I see in Pitt Wideout Weah becoming an NFL Superstar like Pitt's Arizona Fitz, and others did warn me I am too optimistic, and I can't disagree they may be more right.
I am sticking with Just A Hunch, Orndoff and Weah are Special Players and ready to shine in the NFL and CFB in 2017 Seasons.
We shall see?
Orndoff Excerpts From Some Experts:
In his Senior year with the University of Pittsburgh Panthers, Tight End Scott Orndoff had one of the most productive seasons ever by a Tight End in the school's history. He amased 35 receptions for 579 yards; this translates to an average of 16.5 yards per catch. After viewing several hours of Orndoff's film, he appeared to be somewhat limited athletically (though he is quite fast considering his height and weight); however, he has great hand-eye coordination, natural strength (though he managed only 17 bench press repetitions at the NFL Combine), and efficiency...........You'll notice that at a certain point, the ball is tipped by one of the Georgia Tech Defensive Backs; but Orndoff is able to track the ball ( again noting his hand-eye coordination), make the catch and run in it the end zone. This touchdown was key as the Panthers' were able to come back and win this game 37-34.................When your stat line reads: 9 receptions for 128 yards and 2 Touchdowns against the best team in the nation, it is definitely an accomplishment to be proud of. This was Scott Orndoff's signature game..................With the release of Steelers Tight End Ladarius Green, the window of opportunity for rookie Tight Ends such as Scott Orndoff has indeed opened wide. Orndoff like all UDFAs on the Steelers roster, will have an uphill climb to make it to the practice squad, let alone the 53-man roster. From everything I have seen, Orndoff has the type of skillset that can place him on the practice squad, which in itself is an accomplishment. If Orndoff can improve on his weaknesses such as his route running, and establish himself as a reliable blocker, he may surprise many this coming fall.
