And now for your Friday afternoon diversion. If you wanted to know what the 70's were like?

You had four stations in Pittsburgh (with PBS) and where we lived it wasn't a given that NBC would be watchable. If you were lucky, the Johnstown affiliate would be on once in a while. You pretty much had to take what you were given. I think early 80's we invested in a UHF antenna and that gave you two more stations.

Carol's body was tight back then man. I knew she was always cute but never got a good look at her body during brady bunch re-runs..
You're still high. Or maybe I am. She did nothing for me back then, and looking at her now she still doesn't. I guess a lot of guys may disagree, but she just isn't my type at all.

I'm guessing some of the daughters grew up to look all right, I don't really know. I never watched enough to remember what they looked like.

So....I was obviously old enough to watch this, must have been around 11-12....but I am guessing like sometimes happens after trauma, my brain shut it out of my memory because I do not remember this at all.

Maureen McCormick was a huge coke head and sex fiend in her late teens.. that's pretty fantastic. of course she talks about it now like it's a bad thing..

Those SOBs didn't include Alice.

I am surprised we have never gotten a Brady Bunch remake. Especially with the streaming platforms.

Back in the day when the worst thing that could happen if you had a lot of casual sex was contracting something that could be cured with antibiotics. You could be with somebody you just met and not worry about HIV

I have often told my children that my college career at Pitt started off with “streaking” and ended with 3 hour car waits just to get gasoline due to the oil embargo. Tremendous teachable moments for sure

Why no Alice and Sam the butcher?
I read up on it. Apparently, the woman who played Alice had moved to Colorado and was working for the church. She did take part though, I guess just not in that scene.

Not lying.

She became born-again, or something like that. They added Rip Taylor to the show and he was a bit of a potty-mouth and I reckon he was to be the foil for Alice, sort of like Sam was, but the two never talked off set and it just didn't work.

This stuff is a thousand times better than the misogynistic, crotch grabbing hip hop garbage out there today.

Except Mr. Brady. He died of AIDS.

We had 2…4 …11….13….53….22… I remember some Kevin Evans guy on the news early morning who looked like a vampire.

My parents has me so I could mannually change the channels on the big ol' console TV for them.

Used to spin that dial as fast as I could...brrrrrrrrrr

I remember how excited we were when we first got UHF (eventually Fox) as a 4th channel to ABC, CBS and NBC.

So excited when we go TBS and WGN and could watch all of the Braves and Cubs games because you could only get a few Pirates games.

So they say. Anyone know where from? HS?

According to Wikipedia (so we know it's true) she was born in Schenecctady, New York and the family moved to Erie when she was three. She graduated from Strong Vincent High School, which I believe has been merged out of existence.

omg, I didn't remember that this was an actual series and not a one-off variety show. Yeah the 70's were something else

Yep, and because there were so few choices, TV ratings for the better shows were astronomical when compared to ratings of today. The ratings for some shows were so high (Milton Berle, to name one) that stores would close early on the night when they were shown; most people would be “glued“ to the sofas in front of their television rather than shop.
