Anniversary of Wilt Scoring 100 Pts

I think averaging 50.4 is harder to break than scoring 100. And grabbing 55 rebounds in a game maybe tougher than either, because rebounds are more scarce now. But still a magic moment in basketball history.

A little trivia.......Where was the game played?

The original Hershey Park Arena. For years after that game, almost everyone in the Harrisburg area claimed they were there.

I always thought the 55 rebound game was more impressive. And averaging 50.4 over a season is incredible.

I seem to remember an NBA scoring race one season between George Gervin and David Thompson. On the last day of the season, I think Thompson scored 82 points in an afternoon game but Gervin then scored something like 74 that evening to hold on to the lead. After that, scoring 100 didn't seem so incredible to me if your teammates were determined to help.

If I'm not mistaken, I think there is no video of this game in existance.

Bill Simmons wanted to do a 30 for 30 about the Gervin vs Thompson scoring title day -- the same day also had the last game Hondo ever played. But zero of the three games were televised, so there is no footage. Summarizes the pre Magic/Bird NBA pretty well.
