Anyone else think Villanova got hosed at the end?

Gillespie driving to the basket and looked to be fouled with one second left, but the ref inexplicably (in my view) called it a charge even though the UConn defender was moving.

It was a somewhat testy and emotional game throughout with a loud energized crowd, if the arena had been quiet as a tomb I don’t think the ref makes that same call.

What a choke by Nova, but I do think Gillespie also got fouled when they called a jump ball on the inbounds play. Nova has to make the front end of the one-and-one up 4 with under 40 seconds left or whatever it was, but credit to UConn, nice play design and a great shot to win. I thought it was a block at first, but upon replay, I think they got it correct.

I had Nova on the ML to wrap up a 6 game parlay (assuming Kansas wins). What a kick in the pants. Thought I had that one won, especially since I could have had them +2 instead.

Nova is going to get knocked out by someone with size and skill inside. I was impressed with that UConn big. Hadn't seen him play much.

I was fine with the call. Nova player was out of control and he didn't even get a shot up to sell the call. There was no way the ref could call a defensive foul on that play, at most maybe no call, but not a charge.

That was the right call and even if it was gray area, they were owed a make up for the preposterous ejection of Hurley early on He doesn’t do himself favors with his treatment of refs, but I caught the video and that was such a bad call to make in a big moment. Referees with agendas continue to be dangerous to the sport.

What an atmosphere though. This season has been a downer for us across the board, but to see these other leagues (especially our old home) generating all this buzz while the ACC is utterly flat is depressing. So much fun basketball going on and it feels like a different planet than where we are.
