A friend of mine is visiting the weekend of the spring game and we were considering stopping by to check it out for a bit. For anyone that has ever gone, is it really worth it?

I've never been to one but was curious to see what the team looks like so far under Narduzzi. Plus being at Highmark and Station Square I figured if it gets too boring, it's just a short walk for a cold beverage. Our plan is to make a day of it and go to the Bucco game that night as well.

I always go to the spring game - when we have one. I must admit that the anticipation is normally way better than the actual event, but this year's game should hold one's interest better than most. Will be curious to see what Bertke looks like throwing the ball; how the "other" WRs look, especially Challingsworth, Zeise and Weah; how Ollison looks carrying the ball; Bookser at guard...

Then there's the whole deal with whether the defense will appear any different from the recent past; and how some of the younger defensive players look, like Dintino, Wirginis, and Motley; and will our DEs show any sparks in the pass rush...

For many years our OL was so far behind our DL's pass rush that we really had difficulty passing in the spring game. I don't expect to see that this year.

Some mild sunny weather would help...

Go Pitt.

I would not go out of my way for this event. However, if you are already going to be in the area (station square) then it might be worth checking for the fun of it. Highmark field is small but an interesting venue with a great open view of downtown.

I have been to many spring games over the past 30 some years. I can't ever remember ever thinking that had I missed the event I would have been set back in being an ardent fan.

I consider it a kind of football fix. I don't make it every year but certainly go when the opportunity is there. After all it is still 5 months till the opener.

Normally not, i've only been to three of them in my time, and they were rather tedious. It's a practice aftee all.

But will most likely check this one out.

Novel venue, new coach, actual game format, and to see Conner knock some heads again, even if our own guys ... but most of all, to man-crush on my 2nd fav Panther of all time (Fitz, of course ... tho Donald is certainly up there too).

If it's not warm and sunny, which probably would mean I have to work, I will Mos def be there! I only hope I can arrive in time to score a seat as I would be shocked if we don't end up with 5k+ fans at a venue that seats 3500. Anyone planning a tailgate I can crash?

I'd go if I was in Pittsburgh, but I can't because the SAC U14 Wildcats girls soccer team is playing at the same time and that game is more important. But I would love to see Highmark Stadium close up. Definately worth it if it was convenient.

I'm going and bringing a friend. I do wonder that 3000 seems too low and I have to imagine we exceed that. Will the overflow capacity be standing room only, how do they manage that? I suppose its first come for serve. I think I'll make a day of it also, havent "hung out" in the city in a long time.

3500 seats. Did the last Pitt Spring game have that many fans?

I only went once, back in the late '80s, I think the attendance was 3000 in Pitt Stadium.

Bethel Parks stadium I believe is 6000 plus and was more than half full, it was flipping cold.
