Looks like my son is matriculating at Pitt this fall. Was Captain of State Champion Jr Sharks and NorCal Defenseman of the Year.
I know Pitt plays in a very good league, ACHA, and I believe has A & B teams.
He'd like to play but he is also in Pitt Honors so he's concerned about the time commitment.
We know nothing about the program but if anyone does, appreciate your observations on team, time commitment and anything else. Thanks!

Why don't you go with your son and meet with the principals of the team rather than be all about your "honors" son which you've mentioned more than enough times.
Be an "honors" parent and do some freakin work and research PITT Club hockey or let your "honors" son do that!

- They have a website that gives the info you want .......

- Tryouts usually end of August.

- DI (non-varsity club team = the better team) usually plays 30-35 games/year and most all are on Friday and Saturday.

- 2-3 practices/week in the evenings.

- Games and practices are at the Alpha Ice Complex (formerly Bladerunners Harmarville) which is about 25 minutes from campus.

- There is recruiting info and a Recruit Form on their website along with contact info for the coaches, etc.

Thanks Goalieman! Yep, we. We checked out website. The practice and game schedules are about same as he does now. Harmarville is doable from Pitt. Thanks again!

Rumor has it that they may be moving to Southpointe for their practices/home rink.

Southpointe (Iceoplex) would be farther to go for the team to practice and play games but should be doable in about 30 minutes from Pitt..... it's closer to my house, so if they move to Southpointe, I may get to some games (my kids played amateur hockey out of Southpointe some years a long time ago).

It would be a bit further for the team. A lot closer for me as I live in Cecil twp.

i'm not sure about them moving, I think they just got a locker room in their current facility finally.
I am hearing that from someone who works at southpointe. I think they are trying to get them to move. They are offering up the Penguins old locker room. Who knows with the new company taking over southpointe.
