They have been doing what they need to do far in the ACC, including winning one against FSU, and they just beat Kent State in the mid-week game. Aprile started Harris on the mound, so she apparently recognizes they have to win these games to have a chance to get in.

I would guess they have to win at least 8 of their last 10 to have a chance. They play Virginia three this weekend at home and Virginia is awful. A loss there would be devastating. Then two with Marshall at home. Marshall is also not very good. Then another game with Kent State, at home this time. They aren't very good either. Then a single game at Ohio State, who is about as good as we are, probably a little better. And then a final three game home series against Louisville, who is currently 8th in the conference.

The problem is that of the ten games remaining there are a lot of chances for the RPI to take a hit and fewer chances to get what would be considered a good win.

Marshall's RPI is 100, so they aren't bad. Like Joe said, we can't lose to UVA and then we need to beat Kent. Other than that, winning 2 of 4 between Ohio St and UL and then a good ACC showing will give us a shot.

Ohio St's RPI is 32 and UL's is 43. Winning at OSU and then getting 2 of 3 at home to UL would give us a chance.

I would agree. Two wins there has got the be the bare minimum, and that would be with sweeping the rest of the schedule. If we get into position where we might get a bid those two could very well be two teams we will be competing with, so it would be nice to have wins against them head to head. If we could end up second overall in the conference behind FSU that would be a plus too.

Pitt wins game one against Virginia 9-2. Olivia Gray had two doubles and a homer, driving in three and scoring two to lead the Panthers.

Need to win these next two. Virginia is so bad (12-33) that without looking at it too closely I would guess that even beating them drops our RPI. Losing to them would be a disaster.

UVA had 6 errors today. That is hard to do.

The problem we are going to have as far as finishing first in the Coastal is the cancelled game with VT. Even though we won 2 out of 3 from them, we trail UNC by 1.5 games. Their final two series are at GT and at Syracuse. They didn’t play FSU. Even if they lose 1 of the last 6, they would win the Coastal by half a game if we sweep. If we had played and beaten VT, I assume we would get the nod because we won the head to head series. They really got a creampuff schedule.

We are 24 and 16 I believe. If we finish 9-1 or 8-2, we would finish 33-17 or 32-18. We would have a bye in the first round of the ACC tourney. If we win 2 there and play FSU in the final, I think we should get in. I can’t imagine them only taking one ACC team and we likely would have beaten UNC again in the semifinal.
