This is such a weird and disrespectful post to a man that died. It's like you guys forgot he is a real person and not just a character in movies. Sometimes you dudes try too hard.
Uh, if he was not a character in movies we would not be talking about him now would we?...In any case, apologies to all the many Weathers family members and friends of Carl who frequent Pantherlair for our insensitivity.

Settle down, Beavis.
What do you mean settle down. The post wasn't meant to truly honor the man it was a clown show post. Social media has desensitized people to the point they can't see it. The pictures and comments are what's disrespectful but I don't expect everyone to notice that. Trust me I wasn't the only one to feel that way as evidenced by the low amount of comments on this thread versus the high volume of views.

Again, settle down. No different then if it were "Luke Skywalker to the portal". Or "Gandalf to the portal (again)".

The picture to start the post wasn't some iconic image of him it was one intended to make him look like a buffoon. The skipped over tons of more memorable and honorable photos intentionally to find that one .Anyone who doesn't see that doesn't want to. The opp was trying to be funny. We have a lot of fun on here and poke fun at a lot of things but a man's death is not the time to try to be a cutie pie and a "like button whore" with low class humor. Just my humble opinion and like I said as you can see others agree with me....and I wasn't posting for likes.

For comparison sake there is a Toby Keith to the portal thread posted in the last few days as well. The entire tone of the opp's post is different. It's one of memory, respect, and honor. I guess country music singers get more respect on this sports message board than a former NFL player turned actor. I wonder why?????

I don't know,, why? Maybe you can tell us why. ..as far as I know Toby Keith was a country music singer and never played a wooden handed golf instructor named Chubbs... Pretty sure when Clint Eastwood passes references to his roles will be imparted. The 'card' need not always be played but I guess you can't help yourself.

The dead guy doesn't mind.

You know, because he's dead.
What a simple minded tone deaf thing to say. I wouldn't expect a comment like that from you. Furthermore, I wasn't even talking to you so I'm not sure why you felt compelled to jump into the fray but bottom line. HailtoPitt didn't start this thread to show respect to the dead. I hope if you have someone die people show them a little more respect than this. It's about being a decent human being. I promise sometimes I feel like we're devolving as a species.

You keep banging this drum and honestly there wasn't really anything wrong with your post. You just posted one of his character's famous lines then wrote RIP. That IS appropriate and respectful. It's some of the other stuff that is weird. Not even sure why you assumed I was implicating you. You took offense when no one was even talking about or to you.

I agree. People making a big deal out of something that is completely and utterly inconsequential is certainly a sign that we are devolving as a species.

Oh, wait, that wasn't what you meant, was it.

what started out as a great thread has gone completely gay with the race baiters.. thanks alot fellas. we are all now gayer for having read this thread..

on that note, here is a gif of two guys being way too intimate on a beach.. enjoy.

In an attempt to add positivity, Carl weathers played some of the most iconic secondary characters ever. Dillon to Dutch. Apollo to Rocky. Chubbs to Happy. As an actor he stood next to some of the biggest stars and didn't just hold his own, he was their equal. Had some bad ass one liners too.

He’s still alive. But he’s been brain dead for at least a decade, maybe two. He’s like a Rob Reiner Jr. He’s way way out there.
He's very active in cartoons and video games as a voice actor. He's phenomenal in those roles

He made grown men cry happy tears at the end of madalorian Season 2.

And of course made most of the world cry for his portrayal of Luke in The Last Jedi. But that wasn’t his doing. He was just following orders.
