only going to play for a program that takes them both? In other words, could we "keep" either Jorge or Guillermo and ask/suggest the other enter the portal? Granted, there were a few times the past two years where both were on the court at the same time, and they seemed to "feed" off each other. But not enough to warrant both occupying a spot on the roster, IMO

Stat's comparison: GDG = 45.5% FG / 34.1% Three-Pt / 64.7% FT / 4.1 RPG - 76 blocked shots/61 steals/18 min/G
JDG = 40.1% FG / 37.8% Three-Pt / 77.2% FT / 1.8 RPG - 24 blocked shots/31 steals/8 min/G

Given their similarity I might keep Jorge for his slightly better 3-pt average and better FT average. Use him as a SF mostly for three-pt attempts. Neither plays great defense or rebounds well, though Guillermo has the slight edge. I'm thinking we can get a better PF in the portal

Thoughts? Of the two, who would you keep? (and answering "neither" is perfectly acceptable)

I'd redshirt Jorge. I thought he should have redshirted this past year. Seems like a good deal if we got Folguieras and Jorge went to RMU or Duquesne. They could all still live/room together.

Definitely keep both, assuming they want to stay.

A lot of teams aren't really filling out a full roster. The bulk of the NIL pot is going to 7 to 9 guys on most rosters, with the rest of the spots sort of afterthoughts.

They are both worth keeping and it really shouldn’t even be a discussion. Guillermo should be a major part of the rotation at center and should never, ever play the 4 ever again. Jorge is a valuable shooting wing off the bench.

Absolutely, there are like 4 guys on the roster that never played even when we were winning or losing by 50, so why get rid of those 2 when there are way worse guys on the team.

Again, if we are talking about them occupying reserve spots over some other guys we would get who are even less talented, sure. But no one is going to gaslight me into believing these two are commodities who are all that valuable. They have very limited skillsets and are extremely awkward in the agility department. When you're already giving up so much strength and girth, you'd better at least move with some grace. They don't.

GDG gets a weird pass on this board simply because he's a better rebounder than Corhen. But some of you don't watch very much college basketball if you can't comprehend how restricted these two are. No handle; no speed; no strength; minus defenders. I wouldn't expect 7-footers to possess all of those skills, but they better at least have some of them. They bring some things to the table, but it ain't much. They are the definition of mid-major-level players.

JDG is in the rotation? He barely played this season. Spurts here end there. That’s it. Can’t defend the wing.
GDG—Hasn’t added any muscle. Gets tossed around like a rag doll by other bigs. 3-point shooting regressed.
If we can’t find replacements for these two, we’re in more trouble than I thought.

Exactly. I'm fine with bringing them back, but as limited role players. If GDG is still getting 23 minutes/game, that means we didn't do a very good job at fortifying the 4 and/or 5 with legit P5 talent.

Do you have any faith in Capel landing a 4 or a 5 who can play? Other than Corhen who totally blows, he has struck out on every big he has tried to get here. I expect more of the same. This team badly needed to add athleticism and muscle. I doubt Capel will deliver. It's a shame that I have to watch all these mid- majors in the NCAA Tournament play with 4s and 5s that we can only dream about having. Shame on Jeff Capel!

Make sure you tune in to watch a Texas Tech game!

I’d like to live in Carmel Bay and play golf at Cypress Point and drive my Bentley to the club since my Lamborghini is always in the shop .

College Bb has now turned into total free agency and without the proper resources it’s very difficult to compete. As the ACC is proving .

Yeah, tough to beat Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, NC State, Florida State, and Virginia without that Tyson money.

Centers protect the rim, get rebounds, and score and control the paint. He isn't capable of any of that.

Every position on the court emphasizes certain skills the issue is finding players not defining the skills of those positions.

It amazes me that folks on here don’t realize that the coaching staff understands the team’s weaknesses far better than we do .

As far as the twins go Pitt has no one better than them to fill their roles . Discarding them leaves you with no one .

Want better bigs and who doesn’t just wasn’t in the budget last yr .

Similarly, it amazes me that some people think that the coaching staff, all coaching staffs in fact, are infallible.

For instance a person like would think that the Pitt coaches realized that they needed defense and rebounding in the post, so they give it no thought at all as to why they spent so much money bringing in a center who does neither of those two things well. After all, they know better than anyone else.

This! This is the problem! They only coach one way but bring in players who don’t fit the system Capel can NOT win without consistent lights out shooters like Blake. It opens up the lane for guys like Lane and Ish. And not having capable rebounders to make up for all the missed shots just crushed us too.

We had good players but not the right players to fir together for what Capel wants to do. And he will not deviate or try to run something else.

Of course you know more than 4 former and current D1 coaches . I’m surprised they haven’t added you as a special consultant.

Knowing what players you need and being able to acquire them are two different things ! ( but of course you know this …..or do you ? )

So how much is “ so much money “ who else did they try to get and what order did they prioritize those players …..of course you don’t know . But you know everything else .

Correct and can't play inside and be physical like we need. H2P!!!

So far, we've lost 3 players to graduation and one to the transfer portal. Who's next for the portal? Kante? Lowe? Corhen?

We already know this is going to be a major rebuild for Capel and he'll need at least 6 top end portal guys, probably more, to make a team for next year.

Once again, the coaches are infallible. It isn't even theoretically possible for them to have made a mistake in your mind. No matter what decisions they make, no matter what happens on the court, the coaches were obviously right because they know more than everyone else.

Which, of course, is why you stuck up for Kevin Stallings long after everyone else realized he was a stiff. Because it wasn't possible in your mind that he could have done anything wrong, and that anyone else could have done any better.

I was also counting the 3 seniors for the 6 total.
1 recruit - 3 seniors no longer eligible - 3 in the portal = the 7 spots that I counted ... getting back to the twins, I am pretty sure that if Capel et al said that they were only interested in one or the other, the twins still want to go as a package. There are plenty of mid-major programs where they would do well. Why not Robert Morris? They're looking right now and the twins wouldn't have to move very far if at all
