We are a fringe top 25 team at this point because we have no real good wins, so even though it would be nice to see a number next to our name this week when we play Miami, it really doesn't matter much. We beat Miami and we will be ranked going into the bowl with a decent chance to end up as top 15 with a nice bowl game against an SEC opponent.
Brett mcmurphy has us 21 on his ballot.
What!?!? So Memphis is still in the top 26? That is beyond ridiculous. There were only three teams, LSU, Wisconsin and USC, that dropped out of the top 26 (there was a tie for 25th) from last week's coaches poll.

Ive said since day one with Werner, he is negative Pitt all the time... just horrendous to read. The only time he has written more than 3 articles in a week was when Boyd had the DUI, and he was ALLLLL over that. Be nice to be all over the team.
These rankings are so messed up. So they weren't in the coaches poll at all, but were 21st in the ESPN poll? Usually the two different polls are at least somewhat similar, but this year you have situations like that where they are that drastically different.Memphis wasn't in the top 25/26 in the coaches poll last week. They were 28th. They didn't drop out of the top 25 because they weren't in it to begin with.

Yep agree. Yeah the playoff rankings is what ESPN shows by team's names on the scoreboard ticker. So they had Memphis shown as #21 this week, yet unranked in the coaches poll. Mind boggling yes, I can see them hovering around #25 last week but now I don't see any way they are ranked. I think Navy is by far that conference's best team at the moment and everyone else that has been ranked are solid football teams that won a lot of games against cupcakes. Houston with 1 loss may be flirting with the #25 ranking but probably should drop out too, UConn is not a good football team.ESPN doesn't have a poll. Well, OK, they do some sort of poll that they call their power rankings. But even they don't use that when they refer to how teams are ranked. Do you mean they were 21st in the official playoff rankings? Well, all I'll say about that is that those people come up with some stuff that leaves you shaking your head as well.
I'd love some examples of Werner being a 'hack'; my suspicion is that there are none, and that you're all being critical simply because he isn't an effusive homer. Some of you guys need to take your blinders off. Moreover, he is infinitely better than Zeise, who doesn't try to hide his contempt for working the college beat (his coverage of Pitt basketball screams 'I don't really give a ****').

If his employer was consistent then I have no problem with it. But if Psu had Pitts resume, they most certainly would get voted in by the pg voter
Navy only has 1 loss, not 3, so that is a different resume, even if I don't agree with their ranking.Tell me about that big Navy win please.
