the word of the day has to be "sloppy". Very sloppy all around performance by the team AND coaches:
1) I think Canada's been moonlighting at LSU- very strange incoherent game plan; the calls on the second drive in the red zone we're horrible-capped off by the stupid pass by ONeil
2) Pitt got beat up front on both sides of the ball; our defensive line was pathetic and the OL which I contend was overrated all year played poorly
3)Peterman started out shaky but improved; the interception in the end zone was as bad as the pick against Miami-terrible throw
4)fumbles, lousy snaps, interceptions- as sloppy as you'll ever see the entire game
5)I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for a single player on this D; slow, unathletic, can't tackle; just good riddance to the senior LBs on this team- just horrible 2 Bowls in a row- made that little RB look like Dorsett- they can't cover or tackle
6)don't think I've ever seen a team reek so bad defensively on third and fouth down

This game was a mess. Need to retool the D Completely. We need a RB! Ollison, Hall, Moss very average talents.

Let's finish the year strong recruiting and forget this Cluster....asap. Never easy to be a Pitt fan...

Unfortunately I have to agreed with about everything in your post. Very disappointing.

Go Pitt.

You cant play the 4th quarter with your scout team QB who had never thrown a college pass, your 3rd string running back, and no Dorian Johnson... and expect to win.

We're an offense-based team and 31 points would never beat us if Peterman and Conner don't get cheapshotted out of the game.

Going after younger boys now?

The D was still beyond horrid. I've seen midget leaguers tackle better... all in all a disgusting game. Hell the run defense was even bad... pitiful really

It's a valid point that we were big time short handed w/o Peterman, Connor and Johnson but I think all of Del's points still apply. To me, NW looked like the better team most of the game, including before the injuries. Better prepared, better execution, controlled both LOS, and on and on. That is the sloppiest we've played in a long time, what with the pre-snap penalties, a couple very bad snaps, etc. I'm disappointed that Narduzzi apparently didn't have them ready to play.

Yep. Can't even see any way this can be even slightly disputed.
The D was horrible, but it's been horrible all season and we knew that coming in.

If you told me NW would score 31 points, I would've told you Pitt had a 95% chance of winning.

Our first 3 drives all got into the red zone, and the NCAA's most efficient red zone offense came away with 3 total points. And our kicker missed a FG. And we played the entire 4th quarter with a scout team QB who had never thrown a college pass. And after all that, we still had the ball with 2 minutes left and within one score.

Our defense sucked... but it did get an interception that stopped a scoring drive, a fumble recovery, and a blocked punt that led to a score. 31 points is low enough that Pitt should win easily.

But you canto replace a 5th year senior QB with a scout team freshman for an entire 4th quarter and expect to win.

Penn State won the pinstripe bowl
Against Boston College, and barely. I'll take two signature wins over Franklin and Clemson over that. Also, no losses against bad teams... NW's 7-6 team this year was the lowest record team he lost to.

No denying Narduzzi needs to get it together for the bowl games tho. Good for momentum going into next year.

Don't disagree with this either.

As Del said, it was a mess. A total cluster bleep.

I knew the pass D would suck but God the run D was equally bad. How many first downs did NW make running on third down when they needed 4 or more yards; our DL got their butts kicked and the LBs were atrocious as usual.

PN needs to reevaluate his bowl preparation. He's laid an egg two straight years. The fans stepped up two years in a row.

Not only do we need an OC but Narduzzi needs to make defensive staff changes. He also needs to look at his own scheme, it plays better in old time big 10 football. What went on this whole year on defense cannot happen again.

Yea, after freezing my tail 2 years in a row watching this caliber FB against $hit competition, I'll think long and hard about doing this again next year

I wanted the sun bowl.....Pinstripe isn't a reward for the players or fans. Pitt played to their level of competition, I didn't have a good feeling about this game.

Agree, but it shows that Narduzzi made a big mistake in not getting the backup any time during the season. Bad coaching. Hail to Pitt!
