As I watch all these games, one thing becomes very clear...this year's Pitt

team had absolutely no business in this tournament. Had we made it, we would've been on our way home after the first game we played.

Watching all of these teams, including the mid-major types, really kind of amplifies how flawed and deficient our team was.

I really hope JD can pull it off next year, but I honestly just don't see it. With this mishmash roster, we'll be a year older, but not a whole lot better. We still have no guards and no bigs.

I've only watched about 4 games, but I'd agree with your assessment. I'd also say that, while upsets are fun, the early round games I've watched have been really ugly and hard to watch. I can't wait for the final four. I'll take all chalk if it gets me cleaner, better games.

Actually, I took a slightly different outlook in that we finished in the middle of perhaps the deepest and best league in the country and held out own. Maybe we aren't as far away as some would like to think...

Everything is different in March-the legit teams surface and play their best basketball.

They don't lose 4 n a row in a must-win scenario to finish the season.

I disagree as well. There was not one team in this tournament that has worse guards than us. That includes Robert Morris. Pryor was way better than anything we have! He is much quicker, a better ball handler, and a better shooter.

Good thing Pitt's adding some punch at the SG/SF position with Cameron and Durand Johnson as well as incoming FR Damon Wilson. I've seen Dixon retool teams will success in 2013 and 2014. Not this season though. I have faith that he'll sort out a winning rotation and have Pitt competing for a respectable seed come next season. I mean, prior to the utter collapse late, Pitt seemed like tournament caliber team. I have faith.

Let's be honest here, they were lacking exactly what you mentioned in 2014. And, before Durand got hurt, Pitt looked like a lock to place in the Top 4 of the ACC and nab a 3, 4 or 5 seed in the tourney. And, even after he was injured, Pitt placed 5th in the ACC, advanced to the conference tournament semifinals only to lose at buzzer to eventual ACC tourney champ Virginia. Then, after winning an opening round game by thirty points v. another Power 5 team in Colorado, Pitt lost to the top seed in the tournament.

You're being a little dramatic here.

Robert Morris is not better than pitt. And I would say that on a neutral site, pitt could possibly beat any team seeded 3 or lower. I would also say that from the 9 line down if pitt played those teams ten times they would win 3-5 times.

It is nowhere near the gap some make it out to be.

The gap is in guard play! One or two good guards, whether it be Wilson or some JUCO , or both, would change pitt's fortune in a big way. The gap is not that large! Even if Durand comes back with his shooting touch in tact, he would make a huge difference at the 3. Not saying Robert Morris is better as a team, but I am saying they do have an individual who is a better guard than any we have!

Do you really believe what you just stated after watching Pitt those last 4 games and especially after the GW game in the NIT? GW was awful that evening and we somehow were worse.

Pitt was like a Jeckyl and Hyde team this year. I would agree if you are talking about the Pitt team that had a nice ten game or so stretch where it beat ND and NC.

However, that team had disappeared at the end. We were left with a team that lacked confidence and basically gave up by the GW game. The team that we were left with I argue, if it could not beat a bad GW, then who in the big dance would it beat?
