At least Pitt isn’t the only team that’s fallen apart

Not that this makes me feel much better. But randomly looking around at some scores and noticing some interesting things around CBB.

WVU lost in OT to Baylor. Aside from their loss to Pitt, they started out well with those big wins over Gonzaga, Arizona, Kansas, and they were looking like a shoe-in to get back to the tournament. But they’ve now lost 7 of their last 10 and have both the same regular and conference record as Pitt @ 15-10/6-8. And Tucker DeVries is out for the year.

One of the teams WVU did beat, Cincinnati, was ranked to start the season. Now also 15-10. Funny side note seeing Colorado dead last in the Big 12 with a 1-13 conference record, but they beat UConn earlier this season in Maui.

Penn State. Started out 12-2 like Pitt, beat Purdue, only 2 losses were close ones to Clemson and Rutgers… 1-11 since, last place in the B1G. Whatever, not a basketball school. Still like to see them suck.

I have a friend who is an Oklahoma fan, and they started out 13-0 with 6 wins over power conference teams, most notably Louisville, Michigan and Arizona. I see they blew a 5 pt lead with 20 seconds left at home to LSU now to fall to 3-9 in SEC play. Georgia has had a bad stretch lately too. All this talk of the SEC getting 12-13 teams in needs to slow down as it should’ve been figured these teams would beat each other up.

Just some arcs I found interesting. Of course it is a bit odd seeing ACC teams like Miami, Syracuse and to a lesser extent UNC struggle too. And I think he’s a good coach but if Steve Forbes doesn’t get Wake into the tournament this year, will he ever? They’re always on the bubble. It’s a long season and you can’t get your hopes up too much with a nice start and a roster that looks good on paper.
