At the NSD event at Heinz....

...and Coach Hill and Coach Sims have smiles from ear to ear. It is like Christmas morning for those two.

Great event.... got to be 2500+ people crammed into this room.

Not much to say. Each position coach came up to introduce their recruits and tell us stuff about each.

They save DBs and Hamlin for last, to a big ovation.

Then they showed film on each player. That's still going on now.

Coach Sims had the crowd really going when he was introducing the DLs... you could tell he was happy as can be.

Narduzzi led the room in a chant of "Let's go Pitt"... introduced by saying "let's make sure they hear it 150 miles away or so"

Coach Salem said he was going to play the lotto and make sure 9, 10, and 16 were three of his numbers. That got a big cheer out of the crowd.

Drinks are free.... also you can't beat that...

Narduzzi just announced that the Spring Game will be at Heinz on April 16th.

Couple additional thoughts:
--They introduced Bryce Hargrove with the offensive linemen. Coach Peterson said that they had asked him to do some OL drills at camp and he did them well. The coach said he could play D or O, but if you watch his video, at least to my eye, he moves more like an offensive lineman - doesn't quite have the quicks of the other DL recruits IMHO.

--Coach Sims stole the show with having one side of the room yell "Big" and the other side yell "Fast" whenever he signaled. He talked about each Dlineman in turn and when he introduced each of them he said "This is Amir Watts. Amir is "BIG" and "FAST"; and that's the way we like them." With the crowd supplying the "BIG" and "FAST." It was funny, especially when Coach added -- for each player -- "And that's the way we like them." Coach Sims pulled this off like he's been doing the routine for years.

--Interesting that George Hill - who truly looks like he can fly - was introduced with the running backs.

--An emphasis for the night was "speed." Not "speed, speed, speed," just plain old speed. Renaldo Hill said that CB Henry Miller is "really, really, really, really, really fast."

--Keyshon Camp -- Just amazing to me - for a player who is this impressive - how fast Pitt was able to build a relationship with Keyshon and get him to sign.

--Coach Matt Canada spoke well and seemed to be really fired up to be on Coach Duzz' coaching staff. Said he's going to have the players do what they do well and not ask them to do things they don't do well. He loved the fact that Thomas MacVittie threw 22 TD passes and only 1 INT. Really seemed into being at Pitt.

--You'd think Coach Duzz would get some rest now, but he said he has two football clinics to do (plus recruiting for the future).

Anyway, it was a lot of fun to see the enthusiastic response of the Pitt fans and to see how happy the coaches were. BTW, both Chancellor Gallagher and AD Barnes were there. The Chancellor made some introductory remarks thanking the Athletic Department staff; Coaching Duzz and the football staff; and the Pitt fans.

Go Pitt.

Thanks Major, for your excellent recap!

I thought the same thing about Hargrove when I first saw him on film -- impressive physique, but didn't have the quickness you see in all of Narduzzi's other defensive recruits. So the move to OL makes sense.

Hill's position is interesting. I remember reading when he committed that he wanted to play D, and particularly CB, and Pitt giving him the opportunity to play there was a factor in his commitment. But, Pitt signed Coleman, Miller and Hamlin. All of them are very talented, and the latter two have a lot of CB experience and should play right away. So Hill's best chance to get on the field early may be on offense and special teams.

To add, Coach Duzz said he expects the support to continue going forward and wants 30K to show up for the spring game at Heinz on the 16th. C u there... Be there...as Roger Houston still says...LOL
