Last year they went 5-7 and had zero teams make it to the Elite Eight.

This year, they already have 2 down in the first round... both to lower seeds.

How many years has it been since they've had a team in the Elite 8? 3?

I hope the WVU comment was in jest. They're going to dismantle their first round opponent. A team that can handle their pressure and shoot threes will ultimately end their season, but they're a pretty tough out this season.

If you want to argue that the Big 12 is overrated, well, it's pretty easy to argue that based on last year and what's happened so far this year. Include football since the Big 12 champ got run by a team from the terrible ACC.

I think you're a little premature with that claim. I don't think anyone was expecting much from Texas Tech and the Baylor loss was expected when you take into account the 'Baylor' factor.

Kansas and Iowa St both looked impressive, we'll see what they do against better competition. Okla and WVU still to go.

I just don't think the Big 12 is near as good as the ACC because it doesn't have anywhere near the amount of depth. But I think the Big 12 is easily the 2nd best conference, they have some very good teams at the top.

So if they lose they're overrated and if they win they're not? Anyone can say a team is over or underrated after the games have been played?
The game results are what define it, yes.

If B12 teams get beaten by lesser teams, then all the hype about them beating each other up was bullshit. Maybe Texas Tech's 18-12 record wasn't as strong as it was made out to be.

If, on the other hand, the B12 puts 4 or 5 teams into the Sweet 16.... then they validate the hype they received all year.

Huggins constantly yapping about big 12 being the toughest conference this year.

I think his point is the fact that there are no BC's or DePaul's or Northwestern's, etc....the bottom teams aren't bad. I don't think the Big 12 stinks, and if this is the ACC how many of you would be defending it saying a "one game winner moves on" tourney is not a good judge of a conference depth??? But at the same time, yes, the pure definition of "overrated" is looking like this maybe so.

I had Baylor going deep two years in a row. Punch me in the throat if I pick them again.

I will take SFA +8, and I stand by my comment.

Any team that is 59-1 in conference play over the last 3 years is talented and well=coached. I have them a knocking off the hoopleheads in one of my brackets too Piranha

WVU isn't very good,I think IUP could take them down.Huggins very overrated as a coach and he drinks too much.It will be a short stay in Brooklyn for the Hoopies!

Nothing is more annoying this time of year is the this conference is overrated that conference is underrated narrative due to a one and done tournament
I have to agree with Wanny here. I don't like judging a team/entire conference on one game. The year Butler made it to the F2 game, do you really think they were the second best program in all of college basketball? For that tournament yes, for the season, no way.

HaHa - You should have listened to me.

SFA was built to play WV.

I still didn't think they were going to do that as I thought WVU would be able to handle them for just that reason. Let the record state, I came back to eat my crow - it was the first thing I did upon walking through the door. As long as it's WVU losing when I thought they would win crow, I'll have seconds.

Also, let the record state this should prove emphatically that the Big 12 is indeed overrated. Texas might be making this a really bad day for the conference if they punk out in their game.

Pac 12 is worse.

Yes, but they weren't trumpeted by many as "The best and toughest conference in the country".

Again, all they've demonstrated is that within their tiny test tube of 10 teams it all looks good - but once you get out to the watered down world of mega-conferences who are full of low quality bottom feeders you still get smoked.

Piranha if you mean coaching than I agree. No way, no how does the roster for freaking Stephen F. Austin compare (recruiting-wise) to WVU. We actually were laughing seeing the height difference at almost all the positions.
