Barnes said Indoor Track on campus?

Part of that plan revolves not just around refurbishing existing structures, but building new ones for Pitt’s two lone ACC teams — tennis and track — that don’t have their own facilities. Barnes and his staff have talked about possible sites for a tennis facility and have identified a spot on campus for an indoor track venue, though the latter has to be “further developed”.

Pitt should dump tennis and T&F for TV/spectator sports like lacrosse.

One of the sites for tennis that has been talked about is the lawn at the Petersen Events Center. I don't know if they'll get the university to sign off on that. It effectively serves as the upper campus quad and my guess is that there will be great reluctance on the part of the university to build serious structures on that. They may have no choice but to take a chunk of it though. However, there is still some land probably not taken by the practice bubble on the former softball field. There is also land on the site of the former Mineral Industries Building, but again, that is a tough grade to build on.

If you don't build both an outdoor track and an indoor track, you aren't serious about track and everyone that is serious about it will know it. I've heard before they are only looking at an indoor track. I have no idea where they'd have room for both (not that they have to be together) now that they are building a practice bubble on the Cost fields. Maybe they can expand Fitzgerald down the hill towards Salk Hall, but that grade would be tricky to build on. There is also the left over space next to the bubble mentioned above. The OC lot could be potentially redeveloped with a larger parking structure with a facility on top a la the Cost Center. Maybe that's what they mean by further developed. There aren't many options on land already owned by Pitt.
