I don’t follow the MLB amateur draft / college baseball recruiting close enough to have a sense- but it seems like Pitt did very well holding on to commitments from kids selected in the MLB draft. Is my perception reasonable?

I am curious to hear others thoughts who follow baseball recruiting more closely.

Thanks

If a high school kid gets drafted in the first ten rounds they are almost certain to turn pro. If a kid is drafted later than the 10th round it is much more likely that they go to college. Basically the guys who get drafted later than the 10th round who turn pro are, with very few exceptions, guys who simply do not want to go to college and who are going to sign almost no matter when they are drafted or what they are offered.

None of Pitt's recruits were drafted in the first ten rounds.

They aren't turning down the MLB, I'm sure college ball is as good as low minors, they are just taking a different path to try to get to MLB. Almost nobody in history has gone straight to MLB, probably like 0.00001%
