Some details of the 10-year deal were first revealed in March, including an average annual salary of $900,000 through the 2024-25 season.

Here are a few other highlights:

  • The yearly base salary is $400,000, plus a media fee of $200,000 and longevity pay of $125,000, as well as other possible bonuses.
  • Jacobson and his agent cannot seek, discuss or negotiate with another school about a coaching vacancy without notifying athletic director Troy Dannen.
  • If Jacobson leaves UNI for another school before May 31, 2017, the Panthers would be owed 50 percent of whatever dollar amount remains on the contract. The buyout dips to 40 percent if Jacobson departs prior to May 31, 2019, and 30 percent prior to 2024.
Huge Buyout

Buyout is probably just about what we got from TCU, plus the average salary is $2MM per year less than we were paying..

Pretty sure that whoever we are considering - especially if they've had any tenure at their school - will have a buyout of some sort. And as Harve said the hiring of someone like Jacobson is not going to break the bank

-I dont like the deal at all. Pass, not worth that type of money, no way.
He doesn't excite me but he's unlikely to be part of a major scandal either. He's another solid guy but doesn't really match what many thought we were going to get. Not much upside but little downside either.

I still hope Mr. Barnes can conduct a successful search and find us a good coach.

I expect we are likely to overpay for whoever we sign.

-Keatts can go anywhere he wants with a 200K Buyout repay. That's peanuts. Still looking for Wade.
If Keatts didn't have the stripper/hooker scandal hanging over him, he'd probably aready have signed somewhere before this. He's a fine candidate.

But, until that's resolved, he's probably going nowhere. He was the main recruiter on the first kid that admitted participating in the hooker scandal. The kid said he signed there because of his close personal relationship with Keatts. Like Tom Bradley, it''s hard to believe he didn't know something. He's a gamble few schools would take in this PC era.

Wade might be fine but doesn't have much experience.

I'm coming around to the idea this could end up with someone we haven't heard of yet. The guys on most lists just don't seem worth giving a discounted buyout to our career winningest coach.

-Im not a lawyer, but why wasnt his name mentioned in the book, the initial court documents, or, anywhere for that matter. Pitino was. Andre Mcghee was, the director of basketball operations. But Keatts wasn't.

-All I know is Harve. This guy is a rising star. And if we miss a National Title or Final 4 because of it and some other school that is willing to take the small risk (in my opinion) and sign him, Im going to be pissed.

Save the $$. He isn't worth it.
I would cringe on every important in-bound play if he got the job.

Yea. I'm SURE he told his kids to inbound the ball into the corner against that defense.

And whoever was broadcasting that game repeatedly said their best inbounder was hurt. Kid hurt his knee in the last few minutes. That's probably the coach's fault too.

I don't know if Jacobson would be boom or bust. But some of the comments on this board....
