Dallas, I don't agree with you. You know I was there, of course, but the wrong guy won. Had Eddie won, I would agree with you. Ha ha! It was a great match though, but my favorite match was the 81 finals with Lou and Bruce. I have never seen a HWT match like it. So much action for a hwt match. We may never see another hwt match like it ever again.

There haven't been many, if any, Hwts with anything approaching the skill and speed of Baumgartner since then.

Hey Mike: have you seen the hwt finals in 81? If not you need to google it and watch the video. That match was the greatest hwt match ever! By the way, the returning champ Baumgartner lost to Banach even though he outweighed Lou by 60 pounds! As good as Beuce was, he could not beat Lou Banach then or even later.

They said in that video that Baumgartner pinned Lou in a previous match. Are they mistaken?

Bruce had pinned Lou earlier in the year, but never could beat him again. 81 was Lou's first year of college wrestling and Bruce was the defending NCAA champ.

I am not a student of the sport, but wierchoch vs Marstellar at Powerade two years ago was worth the price of admission for the 4000 who saw it. I don't know this to be true, but it had to be Marstellar's closest match to a HS defeat. 3-2 in the ultimate ride out.

I saw a video of Cody vs Marstellar. An amazing match. Marstellar did not score a takedown but still won. I think Cody was disappointed when he de-committed from PSU and committed to Okie State. I suspect he wanted to wrestle him again.
