Big John

Do we know what sort of hearing? If he was already charged/indicted then is this his initial not guilty plea? I mean unless they have a plea deal to lesser charges they will likely just accept the not guilty plea until a plea bargain or trial?

I hope I’m wrong, but....

It’s his preliminary hearing.

Not funny.
Unfortunately, crimes rarely are, especially if you’re the victim. But here’s the real funny part.... If he is cleared, he’ll be diving into the transfer portal. Then you won’t care....

When asked if he’d be returning to Pitt if given the opportunity, our source said “that hasn’t been determined yet” and also wouldn’t comment on if Hugley would want to return to Pitt if given the opportunity.”

That’s the cruddy part. After Pitt has seemingly stood by him by not kicking off the roster, he might go elsewhere.

In all fairness, who wants to hang around somewhere that :
1. you have publicly been wrongly accused, or
2. your poorest decision in life as been publicly unveiled.

not me on either account.

If he gets an ankle monitor and a PO , we better still keep him! Unless he is guilty of full crime he is accused of , he comes back , hell with this choir boy program crap

If he’s not committed to staying at Pitt, get rid of him the minute the 2nd semester ends. They’ve done more then enough for him already.

Why postpone the hearing?
There has been a stay on most live court proceedings since before Thanksgiving which has been extended once again to April 30th. This includes proceedings in district courts and muni court. Preliminary hearings where the defendant is not jailed are included. This is the most likely reason for the continuance.

That sounds better than the defendant postponing! Thanks for sharing

It seems its up to the parties whether or not to go forward with preliminary hearings currently, suggesting the parties here decided to continue. The paragraph relating to incarcerated individuals states "shall proceed." Here is the paragraph dealing with preliminary hearings of non-incarcerated individuals.

Preliminary Hearings for non-incarcerated individuals may proceed as
scheduled, with as many participants appearing by ACT as possible,
including witnesses and attorneys. Participants that cannot appear by
ACT are permitted to appear in person.

I see big John on the banner for the men’s basketball Twitter page now. I’m not sure if I missed that before but if it wasn’t there and now it is there that is a good sign.

People in the new town would have the internet. I only really think the fresh start theory applies if it means getting away from the actual people that were involved

It's not like Big John is Kareem Hunt. I'm all for a second chance.
How about Oklahoma playing Joe Mixon after the video surface of him knocking out that girl? And the Bengals drafting him a few months later.

I dont think his driving of a car his friend stole is that big of a deal. Had he stolen it or the license plate himself, that's a little different.

3 felony charges filed disagree with your opinion

The question remains , can he get us to the dance , if he is found not guilty, charges are lowered to misdemeanor, that's the question on his future here

The real question should be , if he stays at Pitt can that experience help turn his life around and not if he can lead Pitt to the dance . There’s no question his staying will help the program.

Whatever the outcome of the charges against him are the next question is if he’s able to continue his college bb journey was this bonehead move an aberration or will this just be one in a series of criminal actions .

Ignorance is temporary and stupid is forever! If ignorance is not proven, why would you want him back. You can’t fix stupid!

Given how popular transferring is these days, even if Pitt would accept him back, would he still want to play here?
