I think so. I mean yeah Duke/Lehigh, but this Mich State team was considered a #1 seed and you had the Vitales of the world crying that they weren't. Izzo coached team and MTSU won from start to finish.

Best sporting event of the year. Every year!

Not so sure - no matter what they were a #2 seed. Now if they were a #1 seed, now we're talking.

If you say this wasn't this biggest upset EVER , you don't know basketball ..period .. This will be remembered FOREVER .. Most people in the world had MSU Atleast to the final four

And they won it convincingly, never trailed! So now Syracuse gets a 15 seed to get to the Sweet 16. Don't know if MTSU can do it again and against the zone. Boeheim may be living a charmed life after all!

Yes - 91% of the brackets on ESPN had them going to the Elite 8.

By point spread the biggest upset was #15 Norfolk State over #2 Missouri in 2012. Missouri was a 21.5 point favorite. Coppin State was an 18.5 point underdog when they beat South Carolina in Pittsburgh in 97. Hampton was a 17.5 point underdog against Iowa State in 01. Michigan State was a 16.5 point favorite today, so by the point spread it comes in fourth.

However by the name of the losing team it might very well be the most unexpected.

Said the same thing as well. The favorite to win the tournament lost in the 1st round. Biggest upset ever.

If you don't know there have been other 15 over 2 games you don't know basketball either. Yes it was a huge upset but let's not get carried away.

Verne Lundquist, reading a promo on the Iowa - Temple game just now:

"Who delivered the Buick expectation shattering performance of the day? Tune in to Inside March Madness and find out."

Hey Verne, I don't think we are going to need to tune in for that one.

MIzzou was coached by Frank Haith so they're disqualified.

Yes. Upset of gigantic proportions. Think about middle Tennessee state. They aren't north south east or west. They are a confused directional school called middle.

Just to put this in perspective.

More money was put on Michigan State to win the National Title in Vegas than any other team.

Michigan State was a 9-2 title favorite, dead even with Kansas to cut the Nets down.

Michigan State has a hall of fame Coach.

Michigan State won the Big Ten Title.

Michigan State's Denzel Valantine is in the running for National Player of the year.

Which teams are favored to win in futures bets does not necessarily correlate with the amount of money that was bet on them.

There is no one "favorite", different books have different odds. Many books had Kansas favored. Some had Kentucky at lower odds than Michigan St.

By what measurement? If you go by the pointspread this certainly is not the biggest upset ever. They're from Conference USA, which has certainly slipped, but still is a mid major conference. Not nearly the same as one of these teams from the MEAC or wherever.

I didn't name them with percentages. I named them with point spreads. You know, the things that determine who the favorite and who the underdog is? The thing that determines how big a favorite someone is, and therefore how big an upset is? You know what those are, right?

However you might also notice that I said "by the name of the losing team it might very well be the most unexpected". So aren't I kind of agreeing with you? Is this really that hard for you to understand?

Lol you guys are the always right nobody can be right but you

If what you mean is that people who ignore the facts can't be right and someone who provides the facts is then yeah, in those situations I'm always right and the other guy is always wrong.

I mean you do understand that calling it the biggest upset ever is a factual thing that can be checked against the actual facts, right? You do understand the difference between facts and opinions, right?

are you really sitting here trying to feel like you're right because you threw some point spreads that you had to google to even know .. So you're saying the Missouri loss was a bigger upset ? Lol go to sleep my man

Actually my first thought when the biggest upset was mentioned was the Coppin State - South Carolina game. Had you asked me right off the bat I would have guaranteed you that was the a bigger upset. Maybe that one registered a little more because it happened at the Civic Arena, but if you were around here at the time then you should have known that was a huge upset as well.

And for the record, I am not "feeling like" I was right, I was right. I don't know why that's such a hard concept for you to understand, but whatever.

lol I knew that's why you were trying to act like a basketball God .. Because you've been posting on here longer than me? That doesn't mean anything .. I'm a die hard hoops fan just like you and a die hard Pitt fan just like you

I doubt anyone had to google the South Carolina game. I'm sure many people on this board were in attendance that day.

Here is a quick lesson for you on how this betting thing works. Michigan St opened at -18.5 in many places, and closed as low as -16. You can bet your life that the Joe Publics that invade Las Vegas for this event are not betting on MTSU. Because of heavy volume the NCAA tournament is one of the few events that books will move numbers off public money. The fact that the line moved 2.5 points in MTSU's favor tells you that this was a classic wiseguy vs square game, with most of the sharps in town being on the MTSU side.

Who's trying to act like a basketball god? Who cares who has been posting here longer? Are you really that insecure that you are worried about crap like that?

I always kick myself over that one, because I had a chance to go and didn't take it. Maybe that's why I remember it so much?
