I think Billy is terrific. I met him once— really nice down to earth guys. My one caveat— whenever I listen to him broadcast Ptt/Steelers games I have no idea what is going on.
Often it's better that way. :D

You have to love him because he so badly WANTS each play to be positive, so he'll announce it that way. But the problem is that it so often ISN'T. :p

We have a Panther touchdown....... no dropped! Got to love the guy!

My "favorite" from a few years ago was when the pass was caught for a touchdown, no intercepted, no incomplete, no, now they are saying it was a touchdown. Gotta cover all the bases, I guess.

I was forced to miss last year's Duke game and had to listen to the end on the radio. The final winning TD drive might as well been an entire different sport. I had no idea play to play what was happening, where the ball was, often not even if a play was in progress. The TD pass to Ffrench, well, I don't believe he ever did confirm it was completed for a touchdown, he managed to get out that a pass play of some kind was occurring. The play happened, and you kinda got the idea it was a TD, because you eventually heard they were lining up for the XP. I was just laughing semi-aloud in the car, fortunately alone, because otherwise would have sounded like a loon to neutral passengers (unlike what I project in these threads) :D

For Pitt it's fine because, who cares really, but I'm a little surprised the Steelers put up with it at this point.

I appreciate a homer as much as anyone. And I've also met and shared beverages at bowls with Bill, very fun. But at some point in the course of listening, you need to know some accurate details of the game.
