These 2 guys are going to be stars in the coaching profession. What Hurley has done at Buffalo is especially impressive.

Hard to believe Hurley has only been a head coach for two years. His team is not only fun to watch, but executes magnificently on the offensive end. He will have a BCS job very soon.

Danny Hurley will also be moving up in the near future.. And, like you said, Archie Miller. Factor in Shaka Smart, Mark Lonegran, Bob McKillop, and Chris Mooney along with those two, and some of the others, and you'd have to say that the A10 has quite an impressive coaching fraternity right now. The big boys will soon come calling. Maybe not for McKilllop because of his age, but those others appear headed for greater things.

Maybe not, though he seems like a natural fit for that job. What about Wright? He's accomplished great things at Nova, but might want the challenge of coaching in a BCS conference. What's the difference in Wright's Villanova salary as opposed to what Indiana might pay?

The challenge of a BCS conference? The Big East was the second best conference this year, and will put 60% of its teams into the NCAA Tournament.

As much as you guys hope and pray and wish the Big East is a step below the BCS conferencees now, the reality is they are not.

The BET dropped from an average of 20,577 over 7 sessions in 2013 to 14,556 over 5 sessions in 2014.

The BET is on FoxSports1... which ain't exactly ESPN. Viewership for for 2014's championship game between Providence/Creighton was down 80% from 2013's Cuse/Ville championship game. It's simply not the same product nor carries the same cachet.

Maybe some individual teams continue to carry the torch, but as an attraction, fans and viewing public certainly think the NBE is an inferior product.

If Wright went to Indiana it would be a career upgrade.

Not sure Wright will ever leave Nova. He's had offers before. He's sitting in a comfortable spot, in a good recruiting area and has a lot less pressure on him at Nova than he would in the BIG.

The BE is nowhere near as good as it was. Do u really think Providence, SJ, DePaul, Marquette, SH are good? Their competition in the BE is not as good, so somebody had to rise up. Villanova is the only legit team from the old BE. The rest would be middle of the pack or below if you places them in the old BE. The quality of basketball overall was below the A-10. The ACC at MSG will squash what the BE has done the last 2 years.

You are 100% right about Wright. Why would he leave? Depending on how you want to look at the contracts...Wright is making a bit more or the same as Indiana is paying now. Villanova is likely to be the new King in the Big East. He has an easy job comparatively speaking to one of the P5 schools where basketball and pressure are part of the daily gig. Hail to Pitt!

The Big East may have played the RPI game well, but are not the second best conference. In 2005-06 the Missouri Valley Conference was ranked #1 per the RPI. Did anyone really think they were the best conference? When the NCAA bracket is announced later today, Villanova will be the only BE team ranked among the nation's top 16 teams. If not for Nova, no one would be noticing the BE at all.

Don't know if you watched

The Big East teams this year..............However, if you did. I would say at least 6 to 7 teams have a lot more talent on their roster than Pitt does.

When those teams played out of conference this year. They beat a ton of good teams from the so-called better leagues.

Re: Don't know if you watched

1) Didn't Archie just make a deep run last year?
2) He is doing a very good job considering he kicked both of his big guys off the team.
3) These same BE teams sometimes had more talent than Pitt when we used to beat them in the old BE, but we outcoached and outwilled them.
4) There will be at most 2 teams from the BE in the Sweet 16. Let's see how they do in the tourney, then we can revisit this topic.

Yeah they played the game well by playing good teams OOC, I guess. What a ridiculous statement. Both the Big East and ACC received 6 bids, though that represents 60% of the Big East and only 40% of the ACC. Those teams, along with their OOC SOS -

Villanova - 22
Georgetown - 12
Providence - 19
Xavier - 37
Butler - 135
St. John's - 69

Duke - 33
Virginia - 35
Notre Dame - 319
North Carolina - 4
Louisville - 133
NC State - 30

Three Big East teams in top 25 in OOC SOS, compared to 1 for the ACC. One over 100 for Big East, two for ACC, including one over 300. The Big East also plays a round robin league schedule, so no unbalanced schedules there.

People here keep predicting the downfall of the Big East, but they keep going out and winning recruiting battles and keep putting a good amount of teams in the tournament. This is a league full of strong basketball schools that devote their resources to basketball and don't have to worry about paying the football costs. This will continue to be a top league for a long time.

It is a shame and indicative of how pathetic an individual I am that the only lasting memory of Bobby Hurley I have is his having the schitts during the tournament one year.....To this day, guys in my poker club say something to the effect of "I can't eat those spicy pickles because they always give me the Hurley's the next day"
