...is the NCAA Tourney is a guard based/ led tournament where you face the best teams/well coached in the Country. Their players have seen it all in the process of the year, they are tough , gritty players w/ very good talent & skill level or they would not be playing at this time of the year.
And if your team cannot go away from the standard offense you have ran all season, create off of the dribble, break down your man one on one, shoot the basketball w/ a hand in your face...you will lose.
Your back court has got to be able to carry a team for periods of time in this Tourney, both offensively & defensively. They control the ball, who get's it & where do they get it. The poor guards fail at this while the good ones always move on.
Our back court has been our issue since the middle of JRob's Soph. year when team's/opponents figured out how limited(so limited) the abilities he possessed. And Jamie either never acknowledged this, thought he could outcoach opponents, refused to get help or could not convince players to come on board, etc..
In any case we have been the exact same team(past 4 years) because Jamie has insisted on JRob being the player to lead this program on the floor.
And Jamie never got him any help from the 2 guard position.
Young, Artis & Jeter are not guards & cannot go out get the ball & set themselves up w/ passes in the position where they can work w/ the basketball.
