Tier 2 Bowls (Belk, Sun, Pinstripe, Gator/Music City)

UNC/FSU
The last 3 spots will come from 3 of the following 5 teams: Pitt, Duke, Miami, NCSU, Lou

Tier 3 bowls (Military, Independence, Quick Lane)

2 of the group of 5 listed above and VT

If we want to avoid Annapolis, we need to win 2 of these next 3. 1-2 and its the Military Bowl, maybe against Temple or Navy which wont be a good matchup for us.

I actually think Pitt-Temple would be a great game. Awesome too, would be the battle for the best team in PA. Navy though I think we probably should beat. Good team but I don't care about records, Georgia Tech has the same offense and way, way more talent.

Agree, getting to 8 would really help the chances of getting into the tier 2 better bowls with mostly better opponents and dates. Pretty much the magic number, for now.

Pitt-Temple would be an attractive matchup. The PA State Championship. Perhaps even PSU fans would show up to watch the 2 best teams in the state.

I just think Temple is considerably better than us and a loss to them would be devastating for PR purposes. However, Navy will most likely be in the Military Bowl. Only way they won't is if they win the American. Pitt did not look good against GT (376 yards rushing) and I think Navy is better than GT, I really do.

Real quick: I realized if VT gets to 6 wins, they will be highly coveted due to fan travel and Beamer's last game. If we drop to Tier 3, which we will unless we win more, we will go to the Independence Bowl as VT is a natural fit for Annapolis against Navy. The ACC wont send us back to Detroit.

As appealing as it would be to stick it to T-Mobile, in order to be matched up against them (assuming they even establish bowl eligibility), Pitt would have to collapse down the stretch.
I don't agree with this assessment. Pitt-ASU could only be matched up in the Sun Bowl, which is a Tier 1 ACC bowl. If Pitt falters down the stretch, they won't be in the group eligible for ACC Tier 1 Bowls, they'll drop down to ACC Tier 2 bowls.

If Arizona State even wins out and goes 7-5, them being in a Tier 1 Bowl is a joke. There's obviously a much, much, much better chance of Pitt being there than ASU. ASU is not a good football team and probably will not make a bowl at all.
