Ramon Foster was a Friday evening guest on the Paul Finebaum show. Foster currently hosts his own radio show in Nashville these days. His guest appearance on the Paul Finebaum show had him discussing Tennessee Football. They finally got around to discussing the schedule. It was there that Foster asserted "Pittsburgh has been a solid team and has put a lot of players in the pros as of recently. This is going to be a challenge for sure." Finebaum did not offer any rebuttal during that segment.
Thought it was interesting what Foster had to say. After spending a decade or so playing for the Steelers (2009-2019) he likely saw up close how the PITT fb program operated during that time frame especially since he and his teammates practiced in the same facility during all those seasons. What he said probably was not all that insightful but it was at least positive and respectful. It was certainly a more propitious take rather than Finebaum completely dismissing all of the Volunteers non-conference opponents as a threat to UT earlier this spring.
I have been listening to the Paul Finbaum show podcasts pretty regularly these days. The topic of conversations does not stray much beyond SEC football and other sports. Finebaum and many of his regular callers do not seem to think much of ACC football beyond Clemson. Even though it was not Finebaum himself that made these comments about PITT Football, it was still nice to hear anybody say something worth note about a program in the north.
For what is was worth, Foster seemed somewhat upbeat about UT's prospects this fall but he also acknowledged that winning 6 or maybe 7 games this season at best is likely. Since there was a thread posted earlier today receiving much traction about the upcoming PITT-UT game, seemed like a good time to relay some additional findings on the game as well.
