Can we get Carl Krauser on this staff in any way , please ? Seriously , he would bring a much needed fire to this team and program and someone the kids would respect and listen too .. Maybe he could help with recruiting too in NYC ?? Just a thought

Couldnt do worse than the current staff.
At least his crazy outfits would provide entertainment during our double digit home losses.... Sigh

Krauser was a helluva player for Pitt but if we're gonna clean house and bring in news assistants I'd suggest setting your sights a bit higher. A good bit.

Why ? Would you rather have Krauser or Barton ?

I don't claim to have any idea what Barton does or doesn't do like some other posters so I'll defer.

Again - if there are changes - I'd rather have an experienced coach with some connections in a place we can expect to recruit. What's Krauser done to merit a coaching position at this level?

We should invite all the guys from the past to play a street ball game against this team. Let them show this current team how to play. They would physically destroy this team if they are in any kind of shape. Get DeJuan and Sam, Chevy is playing overseas, give Fields and Julius a call, Jaron, BK and Lett are on the staff, anyone else.

I don't know guys I just think this program needs to go back to guys like CK

His attitude, demeanor, swag - I agree. Doesn't necessarily mean he'd a good coach. He might be too - I have no way of knowing but I would think there are better options.

Seems they loosened the purse strings for Narduzzi. Maybe Jamie will get a few more bucks in his budget for coaches and recruiting.

Absolutely - NY kids are playing all over the place, so why the hell can't we still bring them in. Dayton, WV, Oklahoma are 3 teams I just watched recently and they all had tough guards from NY.

Exactly , all I know is I can't take watching these finesse players not play tough like we are all used to seeing , some of these guys get bullied during games , they play no D ever , Artis and young specifically , it doesn't help that we have absolutely no leader , nobody guys look to and say hey this guys giving 110% maybe I should too

Agreed. There used to be a ton of talk of how Pitt practices were way physically tougher than the games. And that's saying something when you think of some of the battles they had in the Big East. When's the last time anyone's heard that?

Lol , I'll admit CK is my favorite panther ever , I don't know how he'd do as a coach , but I do know most everyone loves the guy and he genuinely loves Pitt , I think he could help in some way , he is everything I'd want in a basketball player

I don't know what Barton does and I don't know how CK would be as a coach. I do know that JD didn't forget how to coach. So the only thing that really has changed in the last 5 years (stuck in mediocrity) are the assistant coaches.

And I do think that Barnes needs to hold Jamie accountable for his choices. Jamie needs a bonafide recruiter on the staff and better coaches in general. I have 0 faith anymore that the players will develop. It used to be we get 3 star kids and they develop by their Junior year and play hard. Maybe not all, but a lot. We used to get a big center and while awkward in their freshman year, by the Junior year they would be playing better and we would have another one coming in. Everyone else seems to get big men, but we don't anymore. I don't even know what Style of Basketball Pitt is playing. Seems inconsistent.

I like JD and think he is good for the program, but he really needs to evaluate his coaches, and what type of basketball he wants his teams to play, and then go get the kids. His previous success could be his biggest downfall.

The last five years have been disappointing but let's look who Pitt recruited that didn't work out as planned
Birch :consensus top 20 but quit on Pitt
Adams : never was going to be here 4 yrs but left a yr earlier than anyone expected
MGilbert : top 75 who couldn't play
JRob : top 50 looked great as a freshman but never improved you can argue coaching vs peaking
JJohnson : looked to be a real find but didn't work out
JNewkirk : promising point but lost confidence
JJMoore : top 75 ,Pitt beat Louisville for him never lived up to potential
DJohnson: a lot of potential but couldn't play by the rules
So let's play what if :
Birch had stayed Pitt would have him and Adams together
Adams stayed two yrs Pitt would have him and Birch together for two yrs
Gilbert had been the next Gary McGee he'd have been in his fifth yr now
If Newkirk or JJohnson had worked out for Pitt they'd have had an alternative to JRob and had quickness at the guard position
JRob had made progress in his game instead of stagnating or regressing
JJ or DJohnson lived up to their physical abilities
That's not counting the transfer guard ( forgot his name ) that Duke and UCLA wanted that was a bust or the highly rated point guard that also was a bust
Adams and Birch together for two years would have been interesting but I think If Gilbert could've been equal to McGee Pitt would be a pretty good team the last two years. Add in a Newkirk that didn't self destruct Pitt could actually be really good without adding anyone else.
Sometimes things work out out better than you expect and sometimes they don't . Whoever would of thought watching Gary McGee play as a freshman anyone would say if we only had a GM type player now or what about AGary as a freshman. No one thought much of Ryan Luther last year ,but he's looking like a player now. Bad luck or bad coaching I'm leaning towards bad luck with the incoming players and the two red shirts next season might answer that question.

I was at a business conference in NY and a guy I work with grew up in the Bronx. He knows I'm a PITT fan and like college basketball
He said after the meeting lets go watch some real basketball back in his neighborhood.
He took me somewhere in the city to watch "street ball" leauges.
Wow couldn't get enough of it, great players who didn't even make it to college ball.
There must be a bunch of college eligible ex streetballers out there!
So there must be a huge potential basketball pipeline to tap into somehow!
I think we're missing this opportunity!

I would sooner try actual black magic. Maybe the dark arts can help us get some tougher, more talented kids in here. I liked and appreciated CK's game, but he never really struck me as coaching material. Of course Brandin did, and at this point I'm not too confident that he's the right guy...

I loved Krauser as well, but what makes anyone think he could coach? I agree he may be able to bring some fire, but if he can't coach at all that's almost meaningless.
