Why ? Would you rather have Krauser or Barton ?
Pitt already has one out-of-control screamer on the bench. You know... the head coach.
I don't know guys I just think this program needs to go back to guys like CK
Absolutely - NY kids are playing all over the place, so why the hell can't we still bring them in. Dayton, WV, Oklahoma are 3 teams I just watched recently and they all had tough guards from NY.I don't know guys I just think this program needs to go back to guys like CK
Doesn't necessarily mean he'd a good coach. He might be too - I have no way of knowing but I would think there are better options.
Exactly , all I know is I can't take watching these finesse players not play tough like we are all used to seeing , some of these guys get bullied during games , they play no D ever , Artis and young specifically , it doesn't help that we have absolutely no leader , nobody guys look to and say hey this guys giving 110% maybe I should too
and he would get the best coke.
I was at a business conference in NY and a guy I work with grew up in the Bronx. He knows I'm a PITT fan and like college basketballAbsolutely - NY kids are playing all over the place, so why the hell can't we still bring them in. The last five years have been disappointing but let's look who Pitt recruited that didn't work out as planned
Birch :consensus top 20 but quit on Pitt
Adams : never was going to be here 4 yrs but left a yr earlier than anyone expected
MGilbert : top 75 who couldn't play
JRob : top 50 looked great as a freshman but never improved you can argue coaching vs peaking
JJohnson : looked to be a real find but didn't work out
JNewkirk : promising point but lost confidence
JJMoore : top 75 ,Pitt beat Louisville for him never lived up to potential
DJohnson: a lot of potential but couldn't play by the rules
So let's play what if :
Birch had stayed Pitt would have him and Adams together
Adams stayed two yrs Pitt would have him and Birch together for two yrs
Gilbert had been the next Gary McGee he'd have been in his fifth yr now
If Newkirk or JJohnson had worked out for Pitt they'd have had an alternative to JRob and had quickness at the guard position
JRob had made progress in his game instead of stagnating or regressing
JJ or DJohnson lived up to their physical abilities
That's not counting the transfer guard ( forgot his name ) that Duke and UCLA wanted that was a bust or the highly rated point guard that also was a bust
Adams and Birch together for two years would have been interesting but I think If Gilbert could've been equal to McGee Pitt would be a pretty good team the last two years. Add in a Newkirk that didn't self destruct Pitt could actually be really good without adding anyone else.
Sometimes things work out out better than you expect and sometimes they don't . Whoever would of thought watching Gary McGee play as a freshman anyone would say if we only had a GM type player now or what about AGary as a freshman. No one thought much of Ryan Luther last year ,but he's looking like a player now. Bad luck or bad coaching I'm leaning towards bad luck with the incoming players and the two red shirts next season might answer that question.
