Important games all day! This is awesome. I'm getting absolutely nothing done around the house tomorrow.
The protected seeds with the most "talent" in this batch are:
1. Wake Forest
2. Ole Miss
3. Nevada
4. Florida
The committee-of-one has spoken.
------------------------------------------
Notre Dame at Virginia (20-4, NET 16) - Noon, ESPN2
- Hopefully Mike Brey has one last big upset at Notre Dame in his career (and none after this). Go Irish!
Illinois (17-8, NET 28) at Indiana (18-8, NET 17) - Noon, ESPN
- Pitt is closer to moving ahead of Illinois on seed lines than it is to Indiana. So.... Go Hoosiers!
Seton Hall (16-11, NET 67) at UConn (19-7, NET 8) - Noon, Fox
- Despite UConn's lofty NET, I think a loss here might knock them out of the AP Top 25. I don't think SHU is in any danger of hurting Pitt's chances or seeding. So.... Go Pirates!
Texas Tech at WVU (15-11, NET 24) - Noon, ESPNU
- WVU is like a better version of Ohio State, with respect to the NET. They keep losing, but it never seems to impact what the computers think of them. They are now 4-9 in the Big 12. I'd like them to end up something like 6-12 in conference and dare the committee to put them in. So... Go Red Raiders!
Rutgers (16-10, NET 29) at Wisconsin (15-10, NET 74) - Noon, BTN
- This is a huge game for both teams. Wisconsin can probably not afford a home loss with the way the computers are grading their season. However, Rutgers is a team that could be competing with Pitt for a seed line. So... Go Badgers!
Tennessee (20-6, NET 3) at Kentucky (17-9, NET 39) - 1:00pm, CBS
- Hopefully the Vols figured things out in their win over Alabama this week and carry that over into Saturday. Pitt can pass Kentucky in NET if things go right this week. Go Vols!
Wake Forest (17-9, NET 75) at Miami (21-5, NET 30) - 2:00pm, ACCNX
- It would be nice for Pitt to get a 2-game edge on the Hurricanes going into the season finale. So.... Go Demon Deacons!
Oklahoma State (16-10, NET 33) at TCU (17-9, NET 25) - 2:00pm, ESPN+
- The Horned Frogs are absolutely reeling. Lost 4 straight and 6 of last 7. A loss here and Pitt definitely passes them in the rankings. Go Cowboys!
Florida at Arkansas (17-9, NET 21) - 2:00pm, ESPN2
- Despite only a 6-7 record in conference, the Razorbacks have a very strong NET and are probably in the dance. But perhaps Pitt can gain on them in the seeding. Go Gators!
Mississippi State (17-9, NET 44) at Ole Miss - 3:30pm, SECN
- The Bulldogs are probably among the "last 4 in" at this point. Go Rebels!
Depaul at Xavier (19-7, NET 26) - 4:00pm, CBSSN
- Depaul is horrible. But an upset win here might knock Xavier out of the rankings. Go Blue Demons!
Villanova at Providence (19-7, NET 40) - 4:30pm, Fox
- Providence is just inside the Top 25. They are also a team in the same seeding range as Pitt. Go Wildcats!
Utah (17-10, NET 54) at Arizona State (18-9, NET 73) - 6:00pm, PAC12
- Both teams are on the outside looking in and desperately need a win here. The loser's season is probably over. For Pitt, it doesn't really matter which one wins... but I dislike Bobby Hurley. So.... Go Utes!
Duke (18-8, NET 34) at Syracuse (16-10, NET 97) - 6:00pm, ESPN
- Syracuse is probably not going to the dance no matter what, and Duke is probably not catching Pitt in the ACC standings unless Pitt's season collapses. I want to put Boeheim out of all of our miseries. Go Blue Devils!
Texas A&M (19-7, NET 31) at Missouri (19-7, NET 49) - 6:00pm, ESPN2
- With a win, A&M probably cracks the Top 25. Missouri already lost once this week. This is a tough one, but I'm going to root for the team farther away from Pitt in NET. Go Aggies!
(this one is for @pitt-girl )
Creighton (17-9, NET 13) at St. John's - 7:30pm, FS1
- If Creighton loses a second time this week, they could drop out of the rankings. Go Red Storm!
Michigan State (16-9, NET 35) at Michigan (14-12, NET 72) - 8:00pm, Fox
- This will be an emotional first game for the Spartans since the campus shooting this week. Still, it would be better for Pitt if Michigan wins. Go Wolverines!
Nevada (20-6, NET 32) at Utah State (20-7, NET 37) - 8:00pm, CBSSN
- The loser of this game falls to the wrong side of the bubble. Probably better for Pitt if Utah State loses at home, could move them behind Pitt in NET. Go Wolfpack!
Auburn (18-8, NET 27) at Vanderbilt (14-12, NET 91) - 8:30pm, SECN
- It is important that Vanderbilt keeps their NET below 100. Plus, Auburn is another team on the 8/9 seed line right now with Pitt. Go Commodores!
Stanford at USC (18-8, NET 57) - 10:00pm, ESPNU
- USC is right on the edge. Probably on the Dayton play-in line right now. Go Cardinal!
