Saw a tweet where BYU is seriously considering hiring Navy's coach. If that happens, they may have an interim coach for the bowl game depending on the agreement.

Hope he leaves and we don't have to face that crazy offense.

If he leaves.... we're still facing that offense. They aren't going to revamp their offense for the bowl game.

No doubt. But he is the mastermind of it. I would expect them to have at least some slight problems. Sure as hell beats playing them with their head coach.

I posted a few weeks ago that schools with natural recruiting difficulties should consider him. Not sure I'd put BYU in that category.

Teams like Iowa State, Syr, Wake, Kansas, etc. I thought he would have been a fantastic hire by Iowa State. Would be fun to see those pathetic B12 defenses try to stop the triple option after facing video game passing attacks the previous 6 weeks.

He would likely coach through the bowl which might not be good. Final game for Coach Ken and their QB in a defacto home game. I'd say the intangibles are fully in the squid's favor.

He is Mormon and I believe his son plays out there. The hang up is it's a school known for passing QBs. I don't know if I see them transitioning to a junk offense out of the 70's.

Actually, Paul Johnson is the mastermind. He just learned from him while Johnson was the coach at navy, and got the job when PJ left for Georgia Tech.

If he is hired away, I would guess Navy would go internal again.

(Yes, I can't remember the current Navy coaches name, other than I know that I can't spell it)

That would be a HORRIBLE choice by BYU. The culture of that school and his offensive philosophy don't fit at all. The only thing that fits is that Ken Niumatalolo is Hawaiian and BYU loves to recruit the Pacific islands.

Yes, you're right about Johnson as the "original mastermind". And yeah the coach has some real long Hawaiian name.

Your better result would be Reynolds getting called up before the game

We face it anyways, the Georgia Tech offense is Navy's offense, Paul Johnson was the guy that installed it at Navy.

That would mean they'd pass much less than they do now. For some reason I can't picture BYU running the triple option.

Yep. That's why I'm a little concerned Narduzzi said he threw out the tape from the GT game. You never know what you'll see again. Bet you he won't do that ever again.

Probably threw it out figuratively. My guess is ALL game tapes are retained. I can't imagine how far the video capabilities have progressed.

Niumatalolo has a meeting with BYU Monday. His son plays for Cougars

navy seems to run the offense better than georgia tech. navy seems to run it better now than when johnson was the coach
