Immediately said his team didn't play well and used the young mistakes excuse for it being a tight game. Kudos to ND for bringing it. Cal should have recognized ND's effort first. Imagine Pitt with penetrating guard play and open wings to dish to.....Oh, I am a Cal fan.

The dude is easy to root against.
I was really surprised. I figured he would give a lot of credit to ND, I think almost any coach was. That interview was weird....and it certainly didn't cast him in the best of lights. He made Nick Saban seem likeable in comparison.

He should have praised NDs effort ,but he has to make sure his team stops reading the press clippings. If they play well their beating everyone but ND showed they can be beaten.

What I mean is what makes him a great recruiter is he's a fraud.
That's not really a bad thing'.. He's a salesman who will say anything to close.

He let his guard down for a moment and you get a glimpse of the real man. It's about him, always.

Bo Ryan was the same way after his team lost to Rutgers. He gave the Scarlet Knights zero credit. I wish both Calipari and Ryan could lose next Saturday. Alas, one will move onto the finals. Go Gonzaga.

Yes. He came off as pretty arrogant there. He should have noted the great game ND played and what a great game for college basketball and let it go at that.

Here's hoping his next post game interview is to explain why he lost instead of why it was close.

If Calipari's Wildcats lose to Wisconsin, head directly to the Kentucky board. It'll be the greatest board meltdown of all time.

Re: How many of you blasting him actually saw the interview

Or are you just listening to the talking heads on TV who have to make up something to talk about. Yes he said his team didn't play well, which they definitely didn't on defense. And immediately after saying that he went right into praising ND for how well they played, particularly on offense. He went as far as saying Kentucky got some timely 3 ptrs and made some other timely/critical plays to win implying to some extent that they were fortunate to win.

And the other thing everything seems to be calling him out on is when ND wasn't their toughtest test. Listen to the interview, he was implying it wasn't their only tough test during the season, which definitely is the case when you consider they had to go 2 OTs to beat Texas AM, another OT against Miss I think and a very close one at the end against LSU.

Everyone blasting him obviously just doesn't like him and, if they saw the interview, aren't looking at it objectively.

That being said, I wish our coach was more of a salesman. It is an important part of the job. Regardless of what people think.

I don't hate him and I kind of want to like him. But that post game interview was disappointing to say the least.

If you listen again to the interview he actually cut the interviewer off twice. He was a piece of crap during that interview. I don't know how he is overall but during that interview he was very standoffish.

I can't believe a coach said his team didn't play well after his team didn't play well, oh the fake outrage. These coaches need to start reading a script in these interviews to make everyone happy. What kind of POS waits to praise the team he just beat instead of immediately doing it with his first sentence?
