That would be great if he could. Let his injury recoup and be under the direction of a dietician and personal trainer.

He played after he was injured, so it’d be tough to argue that the injury was “season ending” like the medical redshirt rules require.

Not really. Can state that he reinjured knee. That would pass muster.

Technically no, because the season-ending injury occurred after he participated in the team's 11th game. I believe anyone looking for a medical redshirt would not have been able to participate beyond the 9th or 10th game (30% of the season). That said, being that he missed several games before the 11th game and that the NCAA has become extremely liberal, I would be absolutely shocked if he wasnt granted a waiver if he did apply for it. That said, he still has 2 seasons of college eligibility left after this season. If he were to get a medical RS waiver, would he really want to be playing college basketball in 2025-26 as a 6th year senior?

I would think it was based on a % of games and he would qualify if he sits out the year. We will see.

I guess he could. But I’m not sure he wants to play hard for a half let alone 3 more years.

As much as I like what Federiko brings, we could really use the last year version, or at least a close-to-last-year version, of Hugley to round out (no pun intended) this year's team.

Let's be honest, as good a Bacot looked, he was gassed at the end of Friday's game. Getting these bigs into shape must be challenge at a lot of college programs, and I think the only way they get into shape is by playing.

I really don’t think he’s going to come back this season and play.

This has to be some sort of Dior “handshake suspension”

Something doesn’t seem right

I agree. I think its a disguised suspension. Maybe the old "failed test?" 😉

if "Medical Redshirt" is the name of the new triple decker cheeseburger at Red Robin with unlimited fries, sure..In fact, I'm guessing he will take two..

Why would u even want him back at this point? Shocker I was right that the team would be 1000x better without having to play thru him. I’m SHOCKED. He’s awaiting his 500k NIL deal tho

I wouldn't. Or only as 10-15 MPG backing up Fede. When healthy, the kid has a lot of talent. I know you say he is just brute force but that in itself is a big quality. Michael Sweetney and Danya Abrams weren't gifted skill-wise but were brute force. Hugley needs to learn how to play within a system where he isnt the focal point.

He’s not close to either of those level of guys

Let’s be more honest -
His ceiling is Ontario Lett /Chevy type of below the rim guy
And that’s okay - that’s a good change of pace big man
Right. I mean he did make one of the all - ACC teams last year in a league full of good coaches who actually scout and gameplan the man. If he is to be a depth piece, fine. Can’t imagine what’s going on in between his ears.

I think his ceiling his Danya Abrams. That doesn't mean he will reach that level but I think he has that potential. I think he can be much better than Lett and as good or better than Chevy. He has a lot of potential. For a "brute force" player, he does have skill. But he needs to learn the game and needs a lot of refinement. He cant play on this team as "the guy." He would have to accept a small reserve role.

He won't be as good as Chevy. He's not quick enough physically or mentally. Not as instinctual as Chevy either.

Very below the rim players don’t have high ceilings

If he becomes more mobile and a consistent mid and distance shooter .
That’s unlikely .
His defense is bad at best

Offensively, once in shape, he just has to play smarter. He has good enough "big guy skills" for college basketball. But has to learn what a good shot is and how to handle double teams so he doesn't turn it over so much. Defensively, he needs work.
