Can I get in via .pdf?

I swear I remember reading for either Pitt football or a concert that you cannot use .pdfs. But someone got my these tickets via some TickPick app, and I can't figure out how to open them from within the app and/or add them to my wallet.

Had the person send me a .pdf file of them, but I'm not sure if that'll work.

It should scan like any other graphic on your phone. Did it work?
