...what some of the same naysayers on this site said when it was announced that Ben Howland from Northern Arizona was to be our new Head Coach. Hey, did I want Sean...No doubt, but there are sooo many more quality basketball minds out there just waiting for their opportunity.
I trust Scott Barnes is in touch w/ the pulse of the hottest prospects that Pitt will end up w/ a very good coach. Of this I have no worries.
So we could not lure a coach away from Arizona which is 1 of the prime jobs in all of college basketball because it has no competition for attention. Sean is the No. 1 sports figure in all of Southern Arizona. In Pittsburgh he fights for being the No. 1 guy in Oakland not to mention all of Pittsburgh. It does not make Sean Miller a dick for not coming back. Why does someone always have to be made out to be a--hole when things do not go exactly our way!
I never suggested we fire Dixon, the guy left on his own terms & for his service at Pitt I am forever thankful.
But Pitt is now in a very positive situation to move even further into the future, we have the Administration who are willing to do what needs to be done financially.
Barnes will be just fine navigating his way thru this coaching hire. Look forward to meeting our next Head Basketball coach.
