First off I was at the game and saw the same stuff and yes, the drops, and missed throws lost the game for us. But let's get off the Narduzzi hot seat talk, and the Pickett must be benched stuff.
1) It was 1 game that we were not favored to win. We should have and I believe Pitt was the better team. But 20 year olds are not always perfect.
2) Everyone on here last season was yelling about not throwing the ball. They bring in a new OC, who puts in a must more pass heavy offense. And so much change at once and it being week 1 , this is what happens.
3) Kenny Pickett was not good last night. Period. However he was hampered by drops and Mack had a terrible game. Almost seemed like he gave up on some routes that if keeps running may be completed. Pickett also was looking down a barrel of a gun on many throws, especially In the 2nd half. Virginia was bringing guys every play. We had no run game to slow them down. Pickett is our best QB and unless he gets worse and worse he will be our Starter. So let's tame the put someone else in talk.
4) O line was a problem. Ulizio was not good. He should be a guard as speed killed him. Also the RBs are just flat out not good at pass protection. That may be the biggest flaw on the whole team this year. Back the Oline, we all wanted them to be great but having 4 new starters, most being young, is going to take time to get right. Hopefully sooner than later.
5) Pitt football's head coach is Pat Narduzzi. Period. He is fresh of a Coastal crown, and has a long contract that was recently extended. He loves Pitt, is finally some stability, and does have our defense right. He is the face of our program, Heather likes him, and football is one of the only sports we have right now that is competitive in the ACC. So he is not on the hot seat. It was week 1 vs a team that we were not "supposed to beat". He also has his 4th OC in 5 years, so just like head coaches we need stability.
I'm not happy with how yesterday played out. But most people said that this would be a 7-5 season or so. So buckle up because we are probably going to lose again. But we will also win. We are not a blue blood. So stop acting like we are. The same people that are yelling around now are the ones that wanted Wanny fired. And that worked out soooo well. We are not Clemson or an SEC school with unlimited resources. We do okay with what we have to work with. Yes we can do better and I believe those days are comming. Slowly yes...but comming.
So Love Pitt and Hail hard. They are our team and we give them less in contributions than any other ACC school. So instead of firing everyone and benching everyone. Donate and be part of the solution not just beat on the horses we have.
