This way we can again see all the great scoring, passing, moves and rebounds that gives us a good glimpse of how we will look next year.

And don't forget the great rebounding. Big Joe's 21 a game. Did he have 21 all year? When I saw him get outrebounded in the exhibition games, I knew that summer league lost all credibility.

DT, don't even post about the summer league this year..

The spoiled little babies on this site are back out in full force, it's only going to get worse over the next couple weeks,

If people keep ripping on the summer league just don't post about it, I enjoy going to the games, and to answer the poster above, maybe, just maybe Joe's knees were better in the summer thus the dominat play. He wasn't facing the best competition, but anyone who was there thought he looked good. And then the knee issues came back. It doesn't mean the summer league games didn't happen.

Posts/discussion about Greentree are good for one thing, that being the opportunity to even have something to discuss w/r to Pitt BB at that time of the year. You just can't get caught up on all the praises or accolades placed on any given player based on GreenTree performances because they may or may not translate to the real games.

I'm not sure this is really the case with Joe ...

... regardlesss of what you think of Summer League games, don't forget that Joe was very impressive in early practices, and started at the beginning of the season.

But my understanding is that the pain and mobility issues have progressively gotten worse as the season has gone on.

He's likely done in your opinion?

A couple points

1) Summer league is what it is. It's closer to real basketball than 7 on 7 leagues are to real football. It provides exercise and some different competition for the players and some diversion for the fans. If you din't want to read about it, then don't. The negative posting about what is a glorified pick-up league is the worst kind of anonymous internet trolling.

2) Specifically regarding Uchebo: Many expected a huge drop off from him when the real season came around for two big reasons.

First, statistics were inflated last summer because of changes in the NCAA rules for Summer leagues. They reduced the number of guys from one school who could play for one summer team to two. With 13 scholarships and some walk-ons that meant there had to be a minimum of 8 teams. YSU dropped out due to school calendar changes and WVU quit after the first week. A number of older players "retired" this past season too. Bottom line is there were not enough D-1 caliber guys available and most teams played with limited substitutes. Guys played the entire game and statistics were skewed.

Second, there were suspicions all along Uchebo's rebuilt knee would not hold up to the rigors of regular daily practices once the season began. That proved correct and after he was unavailable for several games, he fell out of Jamie's plans and the rotation.

Joe was a great human interest story and many were pulling for him. Before the injury, he had a bright future and unfortunately bad medicine ruined that. Anybody that has to take a shot at the program and use Joe to do it is wasting electrons. And really, wasting oxygen.

You'll really enjoy Greentree the soccer and volleyball are great the rest of us will go to Montour

I think it's become clear ...

... from what I've heard, and even what we have seen, that the health of Joe's knee has regressed as this season has gone on.

Forget the stats. Regardless of the stats, there's no denying that Joe looked good this summer. And he looked good when he played against players such as Zeke Marshall.

And even if you don't believe that, then He must have looked pretty darn good in the October practices for Jamie to start him at the beginning of the season.

He even had some decent performances early in the year on the offensive end.

But it also became clear that his mobility issues were a problem for a team with defensive issues (which is exactly what we worried about most while watching him in the summer). But like I said, it can be seen that his pain and mobility issues have become progressively worse since the season has gone on.

To be honest Greentree Summer League means nothing to future player development. This is a recreation basketball league that lacks the environment of coaching structure, team play and player development. In the old days players would call it grab ass alley basketball. Whoever brings the ball down court just decides to go one-on-one. Defense is non existent and nobody really cares. Just a simple way to stay in shape and have some unstructured fun which is good for players.

So no..... what happens at Greentree pretty much provides very little indication on what to expect out of player once season begins. Great fun for players and fans and that is as far as it goes.!

DT. I and many others thoroughly enjoy all your posts, summer or winter.

Hopefully you will continue to ignore the board jackals who come out after losses like bats coming out at dusk.
