They could win it all. Get the #1 overall seed and they are assured of the Sweet 16 (36 team tournament). Play the #16 overall seed in the Sweet 16 which they should be somewhat significant favorites in. Then you're just 3 wins away from holding the 🏆
That isn't how a 36 team tournament works.
Unless you mean that they should be good enough to beat whomever they get paired with in the round of 32.

I am assuming they are having a "First Four" with Pitt playing one of the worst teams in the field, so yea, an automatic W.
With the #1 overall seed, Pitt's tournament would really be starting in the Sweet 16 as there's no chance they lose to the NEC Champ or whatever.

You actually do think Pitt is getting a bye. Saying a win is 100% in the bag is like saying they get a bye.
I would say that I am 99% sure that you said to yourself, "oh, hey, 36 team tournament, that means if you are a top seed you won't have to play until the Sweet 16".
Not so much because that's what you "thought", but rather because you didn't actually "think".
Of course it makes no sense.
