If this team can go like 7-13 in the ACC and 1-1 in the ACCT to be like 13-19, I hope they opt to play (or pay, if you will) in the CBI. This is especially true if we get Horton back late. The kid deserves to get something out of this season.

I know most of you will be dead-set against it because you're old fashioned and think post-season berths should be "earned" even though teams go to bowl games at 5-7, 4-7 vs D1 teams. But the CBI would serve a good purpose for Pitt.

1. More experience for next year and momentum going into next season if we win it.

2. 17-19 looks a whole lot better to transfers than 13-19. No ones coming to Pitt because we won the CBI but it gives Capel some proof that we may be just a player or 2 away. 17-17 with Burton with 3 1 point buzzer beater losses, 1 more loss (@ Lou) with a 3 to tie at the buzzer....all of a sudden, Pitt truly has the look to a transfer as a team that can go to the NCAAT next year.

Everyone in the CBI bracketology has a winning record at this point, so you might have to hope for a better record to get in.

The CBI will be dancing in the streets if they could get a P6 team to play in it, regardless of record. Pay no attention to CBI "bracketology." If Pitt wants to be in the CBI, all they have to do is call the Gazelle Group (they were already in a Gazelle event this year at MSG) and say they want to do it.

The CBI has a bracketology?

No, its just a nerd picking the 16 best teams who dont make the NIT. The CBI doesn't work like that. Its a for-profit tournament. They will take the teams that make them the most money, similar to bowl games. I would guess Pitt would be a read-only team since we'd lose money on the home games and Pitt going into some mid-major gym becomes one of the bigger home games in that school's history and potentially a big crowd.

Need to go 4-7 down the stretch to put us in good shape for a CBI bid. With Horton back, we can do it. Could be the 1st 2-time CBI Champs!

Most of us are against it? More like only you and NBA fanboy seem to like the idea. Have you no shame?

It's a bad, really bad, really really bad, don't do it idea.

Lol I appreciate that I’m just “NBA fanboy” to you. Your takes are garbage. Still mad I didn’t fawn over your boy Sean Miller?

LOL, must have struck a nerve. My "takes" are rooted in logic and common sense. I do NOT generally attack or hold grudges against players or coaches. Your opinion of what I think of a certain former PG is worthless. Your opinion of Sean Miller is less than worthless. And if Miller wanted to take the job, I'd sign a check. Just so you know.

Back to the CBI. There are no benefits to playing in it, period. From a player standpoint, given the expected turnover at season end, just who stands to benefit from playing a few more garbage games? If Pitt were to get a home game or two, care to predict attendance. I will; a lot less than a thousand. I know DT would be there and you would not. The notion that playing in that crap tournament would be a positive with respect to attracting prospective recruits is laughable. Haven't the fans and players suffered enough? But I get it, that you and some others can sit on your fat ass and watch a couple of televised games in March is very appealing. And selfish.

I can only hope that this is what I think it is, another SMF brainfart.

Nah. Your opinions about Miller are garbage. Have the guys to @ me next time you want to call me out.

Stockholm Syndrome post Stallings' Era afflicts hundreds, maybe thousands of Pitt basketball fans!

I would rather watch Pitt vs Gardner-Webb in the CBI than the National Championship. Similarly, I'd rather watch my kids' games than the NC. I have an emotional connection to each type of event. If Pitt were playing a summer league or summer tour game, that would be must-see TV for me. I don't understand how anyone can be a fan of a team and not want to see the team play. Its just something I cant wrap my head around. Yea, the CBI sucks but you get to watch your team play a few more times and maybe it could actually help them build some momentum or something

Isn't the CBI one you have to pay to play in? Why would we do that? Usually you try to put out dumpster fires not let them continue to burn by adding more garbage.

Yes but they can cut a deal to go as a road-only team. I am sure Gazelle Group would do anything to accommodate a P6 team who wants to play in their tournament.

Yeah I’m thinking we lose money every time we turn on the lights at the Pete.

Get out the sunscreen. I have been informed the 2022 CBI will take place at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach March 19-23. I really hope Pitt plays in this. Winning it could create more optimism for next season and make us a little more attractive for transfers.

After the improbable upset, I knew this topic was going to rear its ugly head again. So predictable.

Suggestion: There appears to be at least a carload of support for the CBI. Given the cheesy nature of the tournament, I think it is only fitting that you rent a station wagon and drive the guys down. Make sure everyone splits the rental and gas.

I'd be shocked of Pitt or any other ACC team would play in this tournament. The one counter argument (aka one power five football conference team who played in the last five years) is West Virginia. My understanding is Huggins has (of course) a lot of sway and WVU was guaranteed all home games if they entered, so he wanted it and got it done.
