2. Pitt: If you're looking for a dark horse in the ACC, you have to look in the Coastal. No offense to Louisville Cardinals or anything, but in the Atlantic it's Clemson Tigers , Florida State or bust. Things aren't as crystal clear in the Coastal, where North Carolina put together a dark horse season last year.

The reasons I'm going with Pitt are rather simple. I've long been a fan of Pat Narduzzi since his days putting together fantastic defenses at Michigan State Spartans , and I know that in his second year at the helm of the Panthers, this defense is going to take a significant step forward. That's going to keep Pitt in every game.

On offense, the Panthers have Nathan Peterman , who is a senior in 2016, and is coming off a junior season in which he played rather well, even if he didn't get much attention. Qadree Ollison did a fantastic job of stepping in for James Conner last year, and he's back as well. If the Panthers can find somebody to replace Tyler Boyd in the passing game, this is a team that could easily win the Coastal. Then, you know, it just has to beat Clemson or Florida State, but nobody said it's easy.

No mention of James Conner?
James was never one to boast or brag just a quiet Do'er and has a way showing up when least expected, and he beat Cancer, I kind feel sorry for the other guys lining up up against him, they won't have a prayer and James doesn't need them anymore, he is passing them along to Children that do!

Pitt has always been proud of James, the ACC honored him too, soon the Heisman may too!

I won't pray for it because James will just do it!

Still don't get the annual national love for Louisville - yes they're 3rd best in division - they think it's a gimme they would win or finish 2nd in coastal

My God, if you guys and Temple both win, then they get their ass smacked around in the Big House, oh it will make for some good drama over on BWI the rest of the season.

One shouldn't laugh at others misfortune, yet when it comes to that forum, I reserve the right for an exemption to the rule.

In all seriousness though, if I was an OC, I would run it early and often at that D line of theirs. With as many losses as they took this past off season, that line should be about in the same shape ours was in when we faced off vs the Bucks at the end of the season. Just looking for bodies to fill in.

If by chance their O line is still crap, it is going to be a long season in HV I am thinking.

They shouldn't be playing D1 IMO. Louisville is a glorified community college. Even though they don't have the sports, if it were the B1G, I would rather get UConn over them. /shrug

We have to beat UNC , simple as that. We cant lay down against those guys again like we did the past three years. We have to focus on beating them. Most important game of the season.

Psu would be a dark horse to finish 3rd in their division.

Yeah, I am wondering what our old DC, and the Bucks old DC can do at Rutgers and Md respectively. Both have a couple of highly rated guys with verbal commitments. Will be interesting to see if they hold on to them, and what they do in the next couple seasons.

With facing you guys, Michigan, and the Buckeyes, that could be 3 losses right there. I would say two for sure. If MSU doesn't drop too much from graduation losses, it could be a very tough road for PSU breaking in a new D line, and 2 new co ordinaters.

Franklin goes 7-5 again, and that seat will feel mighty warm despite the claims otherwise.

A lot of "IFS" but depends on Pitt & Temple Execution versus new OC Moorhead McSorely Execution at QB. "IF" the QB makes the rights calls with their talented explosive Wideouts and Running Backs, they could be quite good quite fast, but indications from past Moorhead Offenses is that it depends on the how fast his Players can adapt and implement the decisions together. usually takes 5 to 8 games.

This is not an "IF" it does take time to put in a New System with OC and OL Coaches learning together with Players that have much Talent at RBs and WRs, depends on the New QB, and OL learning too?

I think you are correct though, if Pitt, Temple and Michigan all that have solid coaches with Staffs in place take them out early, it may be very hard for them to stay together and they could wear out against OSU, IOWA, MSU, and UMD & Rutgers with New Coaches that played against Franklin could be problems too. Also, Minnesota knows all about OL Coach Limegrover tendencies as well.

Franklin has his hands full, but has put it all on Morrhead and Limegrover, if they work out they could formidable all year long, if they stumble early, Franklin may not be around by next year? Even if he is, the others Team coming in 2017 will be just as tough on him and his Nittany Lions.

In my opinion, Franklin has publicly stated this is his really his first year due to Sanctions now completely gone. He says much of what happen the last 2 year years has been TRANSITION.

however, others in OLD MAIN, have indicated to me that Franklin may be the COACH SELECTED FOR A TRANSITION, just like Hoke set the stage for Jim Harbaugh to come aboard and Renew Michigan which he did in his firsts year, and Harbaugh did just that as I predicted and won 10 games.

i can see the same thing happening at Penn State and Munchak, Rhule, and Engram are Coaches in waiting to return to Penn State and do there what Harbaugh did at Michigan.

The problem will be how do they get rid of Franklin with that huge "Buyout" but as Penn State Board trustees Unite, they will figure it out, and how dumping Franklin in favor of a PSU Alumnus Coach, can actually UNITE Penn State.

Franklin's entire career is relying on Moorhead, Limegrover and if they can't win 8 games or go 6 wins or less, they all may be gone, if Penn State sees even worst recruiting as seen right now.

Once what I suspected that Hoke was a Joke at Big Blue, I always said only Michigan Alumni can save and change Michigan, and Harbaugh came home to do it, this is exactly what Penn State needs now too, in my opinion.

We shall see if my Long Ears and Cloudy Eyes turn out right?
