146. Green (transfer)

26 OL. 7 are transfers, and one of them just immediately transferred back to the school he originally enrolled it without taking a snap at his new school.

High school money should be spent on the OL. There just isn’t much in the portal to build the trenches.

Transfer money should be spent on QB. You can find plenty of higher end QBs on the open market every year.

No Eli number #1? Cant be

Pitt has two on the list.

23. Kyle Louis | LB | Pittsburgh

Coming off an insane season — with 101 tackles, 7 sacks, 15.5 TFLs, 4 INTs and 7 PBUs. Instinctive, fast-closing, and disruptive in both coverage and against the run. Can undercut routes, mirror QBs, and strike in the box. Will enter 2025 as one of the top returning LBs in the country. Should be getting more national love.

130. Desmond Reid | APB | Pitt

True all-purpose weapon with 956 rushing yards, 579 receiving, and 9 total TDs. Elite vision and lateral quickness. Can hit home runs in space, cut on a dime, and return punts. Huge value piece who keeps defenses honest at all times.

Would love to see both of these lists with the HS ranking next to them. Might bolster your point.

I actually did that last year when I looked at the list. Started to do it this time but then realized there are only a few OL I know for sure were like 5*. The rest I would need to look up. And that seems like it would take too long.

QB is easier. Klubnik, Allar, Manning, Lagway, Nico were 5*, can’t miss.

Nuss, King, and Avery Johnson were 4* who were as close to being a 5* as they were a 3*.

Beck, Leavitt, Altmeyer were low 4* that were closer to being 3* than 5*.

The rest were 3* and below.

So don’t put your money into HS QBs. Go after raw, high ceiling guys that hopefully you can mold into a QB. But the elite prospects have too much of a bust rate to make it worth the money.

Last year I think was maybe even worse than this year for QBs. I think transfers formed the majority of the list of QBs, with No Star Transfer Cam Ward the obvious poster child for the strategy.

OL is always hit and miss plus most of those guys are so raw that they really do have room to develop and it's usually an issue of size and technique. So that tracks.

I think the issue with QB's is that they can look like studs in HS but they aren't really asked to make the reads and do things as quickly as a college QB and it has to be difficult to measure that. "He throws a nice ball." Sure, a lot of them do until they get a 300 pounder that can move breathing down their neck.

Klubnik and Allar in the top 11? I must have been watching different games than whoever made this list. And Arch Manning has absolutely not played enough in his two seasons to be considered the 45th best player in the country. I realize there has to be some projection, but he's pretty far removed from his high school days. And Beck at 28? Ehhhhhh, not in my opinion.

With OL it’s not only size and technique but their foot quickness and can they bend over and touch their feet.
Gone are the days when all linemen were redshirted spent 2 years in the weight room then 1 year of a backup then started 2 years.

Allar is one of those guys who looks like he can do it all, except, he hasn't so far. This list is mostly projection.

It looks like a list DJU might have been in the top 5 in one year or another. Meanwhile, I'd rather have DJ from Full House as my QB.

In many respects, this looks like a regurgitation of the recruiting rankings.

In fairness to Allar, for as good a job as they do recruiting over there, the WR corps has been very mediocre. The only legitimate target they had last year was the tight end. And damn, he was something.

I don’t think it does.
Look at how many 3* QBs there are.

there’s some projection in the list. But I’ve seen worse. Staples and his partner at On3 have Lagway the number one player in college football for 2025.

This list doesn’t even have him in the top 50.

Agreed. Put half of the ACC’s starting QBs on Clemson and Penn State and both teams have similar seasons.

I get what you're saying but quickness is a product of technique. There is obviously a training aspect, as well, but you see guys in the NFL (Steelers) who have terrible feet but look okay plowing forward.
