A few thoughts
2 Loss LSU and Alabama ranked ahead of 1 loss Clemson
2 Loss LSU, Alabama, Utah, Penn St, Oregon ahead of #13 UNC with 1 loss

Both UNC and Clemson's only loss is to #19 Notre Dame so shouldn't be considered a bad loss. you may claim Clemson and UNC don't have any key wins but 2 loss Penn st has zero wins against ranked opponents.

If both win out you have a 11-1 vs 11-1 ACC championship matchup. How do you not put the conference winner into the CFP? The winner should get a top 10 win out of it.

Do potentially 1 loss Tennessee and loser of Ohio St/Michigan deserve to be in having not even played in their conference championship over a 1 loss P5 winner

Does a 1 loss P12 team rank higher this year than the ACC? Probably.

Chaos happens if a 2 loss LSU beats an undefeated GA. Then you get a LSU, GA, OSU/Mich winner, TCU and potentially leave out 1 loss P12 and ACC champions. If TCU loses would they possible put it LSU, GA, TN and OSU/Mich winner? 3 SEC teams and leave out ACC and P12?

we usually see a bunch of upsets these last few weeks so things likely change.

I think the winner between a one loss Clemson and a one loss NC would get in over any two loss program.

What would be interesting is if the winner between OSU and Michigan goes on to lose in the B10 Championship Game.

Unless that 2 loss team is SEC Champion LSU, almost no way Clemson or UNC gets in above them with a resume that would include wins over Georgia and Alabama.

I think Clemson’s the only one with a shot if they win. I don’t think UNC does. And even then, I think there’s some real Clemson fatigue nationally, especially given that Clemson just hasn’t looked super impressive this year even only having one loss. So I think they’d need help, like TCU losing and USC losing, and even then you’re probably going to get sniped by at least Tennessee and one of LSU/Alabama/Michigan/OSU.

I think the OSU/Michigan winner losing the Big Ten Championship is more of an academic argument than anything. The West division winner has never won B1G championship game for a reason - none of the teams in the West are probably in the five best teams in that conference.

ESPN drives this bus, and they are the official boot lickers of the SEC. If they can find a way to have Georgia, Alabama, and LSU in the playoffs (and maybe even Vandy for good measure) it shall be done. Next best scenario is to have one BIG team in the mix, preferably Ohio State. This is only my opinion, but I sometimes think they are the reason the playoff expansion is bogged down. 12 teams might take too much out of their control.

I agree. If LSU wins the SEC with two losses then they get in. But I don't think anyone loss conference champ that beats a team ranked in the top ten would get jumped by any other 2 loss team. Has a one loss conference champion ever not gotten in? Incant think of one.

Edit: looks like OSU won the B10 in 2018 and was 12-1 and didn't get in. So it's possible.

LSU is the only 2 loss possibility to make the CFP if they win the SEC.

you could end up with this where a 12-1 ACC champ ends up 8th in the CFP rankings and 4 1 loss P5 teams out of the CFP:
1 LSU 11-2
2 Georgia 12-1
3 Michigan 13-0
4 TCU 13-0
5 TN 11-1
6 Ohio State 11-1
7 USC 12-1
8 Clemson or UNC 12-1

Tennessee is an awesome position. They have South Carolina and Vandy and cannot go to championship of their conference. They will be a one loss team that likely has their only loss against the far and away #1 team In Georgia. Michigan or OSU will obviously lose and so which one loss team do you choose. I think its the one who lost to the best team in the country.

Clemson and UNC are weak. The world, including the CFP committee, know this. PSU is weak, they aren't even in the conversation

they shouldn’t. Neither of those teams is even close to being one of the best 4 teams in the country and nothing they do between now and the ACC champ game will change that a bit. They aren’t even in the top 10.

When the ACC gets frozen out of the CFP this year, the usual Lair suspects will be crying foul, but the truth is there isn’t a legit top 10 team in the whole league this season. UNC is a fraud, in case anyone hasn’t been paying attention. Defensively 124 of of 131 D1 teams. Eking out narrow wins over soup cans. And Clemson obviously just isn’t Clemson this year.

How will the Big Ten do this year? Think they finally win a big game? Seems to happen every decade or so...

Clemson being ranked that low makes sense based on what I watch each week. I'd probably put UNC higher because they will almost always have the best QB on the field and more often than not, those are the teams that win.

I don’t know or care.

You know ballz, it doesn't make you any less of a Pitt fan to be able to admit what the rest of the college football world knows to be true this season. In case you're too blinded to see it with your own eyes, There are valid reasons why the CFP and coaches polls, and the oddsmakers have Clemson and UNC way out of the CFP picture. I'll spell it out for you--it's because they aren't very good.

You can still be a Pitt fan without pledging blind fealty to a bunch of deep southern schools that couldn't give two hot F's about Pitt. It's a bad look, that company man slappiness. Pathetic really.
