I am one that likes the changes but I must have missed where there was a change log and version # of all the new features that would coming to the forums. The changes have shown to be disruptive to the thread view supporters. I can discover all the new features by playing around, but all UI and feature enhancements should be included and communicated to mitigate the disruption. For those that hate the adhoc discovery of things, it would prove invaluable.

I posted something very similar to what you're describing prior to the board change.

Additionally, there is a pinned post at the top of the board with a variety of helpful tips for the new boards.

Probably one of if not the biggest reason for changing the board software and the timing is due to Google changing how they rank sites.

Per Google:
"As we noted earlier this year, today’s the day we begin globally rolling out our mobile-friendly update. We’re boosting the ranking of mobile-friendly pages on mobile search results. Now searchers can more easily find high-quality and relevant results where text is readable without tapping or zooming, tap targets are spaced appropriately, and the page avoids unplayable content or horizontal scrolling."
