After last week's Franklin/PSU debate about his appearance on The Fan, I noticed some interesting changes this past week.
Over the weekend, the sports updates that happen three times an hour had updates about the Pitt softball team. I can't recall ever hearing an update for a Pitt sport other than mens or womens basketball or football. Now, this could have been an anomaly because the softball team was making a good run in the conference tournament, but I don't remember anything about Pitt wrestlers making runs through the conference or NCAA tournaments or even the team winning the EWL several straight years.
On one occasion, I heard an update about the Pitt-Georgia Tech baseball series. This is a regular season series and not the conference tournament. And frankly, it means little since the baseball team is well under .500.
I thought this was interesting considering many Pitt fans were pretty upset about Franklin. For the record, I wasn't because he was brought on to talk about a Steelers draft pick. But, it sounds like our leadership may have put in a couple words with the radio station or Pitt fans were heard by the station.
