Someone in crowd told me that the cop did not show because of Covid. I have not heard this anywhere else.
There was also a report he showed up late just after the hearing had ended.

And Capel claimed he had no idea of what happened when the charges were dismissed without prejudice to file again . He sounded like a a dope . Cops over charge all the time . It isn't actually his decision, so he'd have looked silly saying that and then Horton got suspended anyway.
They should be able to have remote options after two years of this.
It is such a load of shit. The pussyass cop got his feelings hurt when Horton, who was visibly drunk (and of legal age) said something mean to him. Instead of laughing off the drunk guy, the cop (who is probably racist, sorry but lets be honest here), moves to arrest him for the mean words. Horton resists (which he was wrong to do) and struck the cop inadvertently in the process of resisting.

I have spoken out about how ridicules this re-filing is, and how the cop should have been at the first hearing., etc., But, What part of this is Horton's responsibility? Do you expect all your players of age to be out walking the streets in an intoxicated state? What about Capel's insistence on being political prior to this? Does that have an affect on how this is playing out.
Capel should support the kid without calling it BS etc. he is just making things worse for future interactions with law enforcement, and for the University, IMO. Once again his arrogance is annoying.

Covid is the reason for every delay or at least it is the excuse always used. Heck there are people in Washington DC that have been in jail for almost a year without any court dates and those are blamed on covid as well. November is nothing compared to those prisoners
Capel was correct and should have went even further. This whole situation is so outrageous that honestly, guys like Al Sharpton and company should be involved. They are robbing the kid of a career because he was drunk and called a cop a mean name. Totally outrageous

Why though? Instead of laughing at the drunk guy and leaving, he arrests him. Horton, probably shocked to be arrested for words, resists and during his resistance, he strikes the cop, but more of defense mechanism probably as they're wrestling on the ground, not like a sucker punch.
Capel is doing the correct thing. You call out BS when you see it and not just stay silent. That's how injustice continues to occur because folks stay silent and not call it out. That is not arrogance.
Horton needs a better lawyer to stand up for him and pressure the DA. This would've been long over and settled, if Horton was a more high profile player. It's merely dragging on because the DA can get away with it.

I get that , but it is open to interpretation. It is obvious Capel is not going to call out Hugley, Horton, etc. for absolutely stupid behavior publicly, so his comments on justice-injustice lack any validity in the public arena regarding his players and accountability. He should be helping IH out in everyway possible, understood, but public comments that can be interpreted to be dismissive of consequences for poor behavior by Pitt athletes misses the mark , IMO.
