Charlie Partridge's Pitt Defensive Line will benefit together with Steeler's DL Coach John Mitchell that can help groom each other together at practices and film rooms, and just hanging around. Nate Peterman credits Big Ben and Haley in helping him develop his game and was very productive with Matt Canada that all talked Football together game to game.

As corrected last year by some Great Posters on the Lair, the biggest problems for Pitt & Steelers was a lack of a Faster and Stronger Pass Rush that puts pressure on QBs in late game close losses as well as stopping the Runs. Northwestern ran all over Pitt??? New England beat the Steelers in the First Quarter & Dallas the last minute??? Partridge will help change it on Pitt and DL could be a big surprise while Steelers will be a work in progress, but TJ Watts will be a fast learner!

The Pitt DL and TJ Watts both need much work and you can bet they will improve with Partridge Mitchell around. Learning together just makes all better is my view.
Partridge taught JJ Watts so much and he was willing to work hard and ended up Three Times 2012, 2014, and 2015 as NFL Defensive Players of the year.

Those late night Film Rooms whereby JJ Watts credits learning under Charlie Partridge all paid off according to JJ Watts, and much will rub off of each other at Pitt and Steelers DLs again. Just a Hunch!

At the Steeler's Press Conference the Steeler talked about how the relationship with Pitt Coaches are good for each other and Paul Chryst now at Wisky actually talked to them when TJ watts switched from Tight End to OLB and in one year improved by getting 11 Sacks. All need work to improve and with Charlie Partridge right there at Pitt and UPMC Practice Facilities, no question there will be mutual interaction together.

Additionally, don't forget it was Aaron Donald also will be around during off season workouts and he set the stage on how to work hard and learn in the Film Rooms too.

Now Pitt has one of the finest DL Coaches in Partridge and Recruits & Players that just want to learn to get better, and now all can keep doing it together, since success surrounds all of them.

Previous Article on Partridge & JJ Watts:

............When he left for Wisconsin in 2008, Partridge encountered Watt, a Central Michigan transfer walk-on, who was forced by NCAA rules to sit out the '08 season. Partridge said after Watt spent the day practicing with the scout team, he often sat outside his office at night and waited for the coaches' meeting to end. He wanted to watch tape with Partridge, his position coach. “We were meeting until late hours of the night,” Partridge said. “He wanted to watch tape of himself on the scout team so he knew he was improving and not just going through the motions.” Two years after he left Partridge and Wisconsin, Watt won the first of three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Partridge moved from Pitt to Wisconsin after Wannstedt's third season, perhaps noticing the program was on a dead-end street in the Big East. “When you look back on when I was there, it was a very turbulent time,” he said. “As I was leaving, the Big East from a football standpoint was disintegrating. I continued to watch it from afar. When Pitt got the opportunity to join the ACC, I was excited for the program.” Now, he's a part of that transition that has just begun to bear fruit with two consecutive eight-victory seasons. “There's a lot of loyalty that you could feel when I was there,” Partridge said, “and there's a lot of people who believe Pitt can compete at the highest level.”..........

Aaron Donald Returns Home to Pitt
2/1/2017

Aaron Donald talks about dominating in the NFL and why it's so important for him to come back home to Pitt in the offseason. And since he was back on Nationals Signing Day, Donald tells the ACC Digital Network's Jeff Fischel about his memories of signing with Pitt.

This is where College Football & NFL collide and all football fans love it. The NFL Draft taking the Best CFB Players. There is no question in my mind the first thing JJ Watts told his Brother new Steeler TJ Watts, first person to call and look up is Charlie Partridge at Pitt due to the days he spent with him in Wisconsin. Since TJ is going to continue to grow in the NFL and no question Pitt Defensive Lineman will learn how to do it under Coach Partridge too. The article talks about Paul Chryst too and relationship he develop with Steelers while at Pitt and how they met and talked with Watts!
Article Excerpt:
Steelers take Wisconsin LB Watt with first-round pick in draft
The Steelers not only got a pass rusher in the first round of the NFL Draft, they picked someone with strong defensive bloodlines. Wisconsin outside linebacker T.J. Watt, younger brother of three-time NFL defensive player of the year J.J. Watt, was chosen by the Steelers with the No. 30 overall pick. Watt (6-foot-4, 252 pounds) was a one-year starter at linebacker at Wisconsin after beginning his college career as a tight end before missing his second season with a right knee injury. Healthy as a junior, Watt had 63 tackles (15 1⁄2 for a loss) and 11 1⁄2 sacks. He was named first-team All-Big Ten and second-team AP All-American. Watt, 22, thinks his relative experience on defense can work to his advantage. “That's my selling point,” he said, noting he has spent only 18 months on defense. “I truly am scratching the surface on what I can do, and I feel like the sky is the limit on what I can do on the football field.” (This Kind Of Talk IS What Every Pitt DL Recruit & Player Is Thinking Too!) Watt and his oldest brother — another brother, Derek, is a fullback for the Los Angeles Chargers — will be reacquainted on Christmas Day in Houston when the Steelers play the Texans..............

...........“We don't even think he's the complete product at this point,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said, “and we are excited about where he can go.” Former Pitt football coach Paul Chryst, shortly after returning to his roots at Wisconsin, convinced Watt to switch from tight end to defense. Watt was a backup in 2015, then moved into the starting lineup as a junior. “It took all of 12 hours, if that,” Watt said when asked how long it took him to buy into the switch. “I went home, thought about it, came back and told coach I want to play defense.” Chryst also had a hand in navigating Watt toward the Steelers. Colbert said he had scouted Watt during a game last season, and he received a text message from Chryst after the season was complete. Chryst wanted Colbert to evaluate Watt's draft status. Watt was considering declaring for the draft after his junior season. “I looked at the tape on him and said, ‘Coach, this kid is a first-round pick,' ” Colbert said. The Steelers visited with Watt at the NFL Combine and took him to dinner the night before Wisconsin's pro day. In attendance at dinner were Chryst, Colbert, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and linebackers coach Joey Porter. They arrived in Madison after visiting with free-agent linebacker Dont'a Hightower earlier in the day.......

As I dont follow the Steelers closely.....Are Steeler fans surprised at this pick? Was it a reach?

All week long I heard about Peppers, the DB from Uconn...the Wr from Washington, etc.... but no mention of Watt.

Thanks in advance

How much time do you think Ben actually spent with Peterman? More or less than 5 minutes?

Some are saying the Bell and Bryant stuff scared them to take a 'clean' guy. Many of their other targets were sullied with bad drug tests. Is this true? Dunno. I honestly think they really don't care much about that (other than missed time for suspensions) but fans like to think so.

Don't know, but his play improved, and you can's guess on that at all can you????

CFB Player's Being able to talk to Pros is not an I Don't Know, they can learn from them, if you think otherwise, so be it, I don't and have seen it.

I suspect Aaron Donald coming back to Pitt and telling Pitt Players how to work hard on preparing for games in the Film Rooms can't hurt but that is just me, I think Aaron knows more too, and maybe a guess you don't? Just know it was Nate Quote from last year!
