Mostly recovered back in Texas now. Don't have a voice, but well worth it. Some thoughts.
1. Great turnout of Pitt fans. Fan fest was 75% or more Pitt fans on Friday night. Similar Saturday morning. I'm sure most WF fans just drove down for the game.
2. Fan Fest was first class by the ACC. Lots of games and free stuff. Stage and a beer garden. Bostick was great Friday night at the Chalk Talk.
3. I did not get $40 worth from the Alumni pre game event, but still very nice. The Pickett Heisman towels were a hit though. Huge bottleneck to get in that could have been planned better.
4. I thought there was slightly more Pitt fans inside the stadium. Close, but I think we had WF beat.
5. That crowd of Pitt fans was engaged. I'm sure all day tailgating helped. Very loud the whole game. I know our section barely sat down. I keep seeing posts on here about fans standing at Heinz. Well pick what you want. 25,00 Pitt fans loud and standing created quite the atmosphere in an NFL stadium.
6. Speaking of the stadium: Heinz has much nicer amenities. Men's room sinks were all clogged at half time. Not impressed with quality of the food. The view of the Charlotte skyline is very nice though.
7. We were sitting behind the Pitt band. When Hallett was called for pass interference late in the 1st quarter someone threw a beer from the upper deck. Hit one of the band/cheerleaders. Come on Pitt fans, we are not Tennessee.
8. Noticed Pitt had a group of players in black warm up suits in the stands. They came through the tunnel on the last kneel down to celebrate. Walk ons? Redshirting players? Guess there was some limit how many players could be on the sideline?
9. Stadium went crazy when Izzy scored after the Woods INT. I think that is when everyone knew even Pitt wasn't going to blow it then.
10. Can't possibly recommend the trip enough for anyone out there. I know a lot of people were able to make the drive. Undertand some years driving through WV with possible snow would be less than ideal. Don't know when work will bring me back to the East Coast, but plan on being back the next time Pitt is there. Hope Pitt can make more of these going forward. H2P!
