Question. Since Chryst bolted for Wisconsin and turned them into a top 10 team, it got me to thinking. In 17 games, which group of players has gotten better under Narduzzi?

How I see it:
QB- Worse. Chad threw the ball. Was semi productive.
RB- Same. The backs have stayed productive.
FB- Better. But, who cares.
WR- Way worse. Had no plan to replace Boyd.
TE- Same/worse. JP was good in Chrysts offense.
OL- Same/better. The strength of the team.
DL- Better. Only because of Price. Rori Blair had no business getting a scholarship.
LB- Same. Hope for the future I suppose. But getting exposed in pass coverage this year.
DB- Worse. The group you'd expect to improve the most has stunk the joint up. Terrible all around.
ST- Same. Although Henderson has been a pleasant surprise.

Thoughts?

Here's all you need to know about Chryst at Wisconsin. He works under an AD who is heavily involved in every aspect of the FB program including the selection of assts. He hired Chryst and plugged him into a situation that obviated the need for Mumbles to make any staff decisions including the selection of a DC. Wisconsin is winning this year primarily on the strength of their D. Mumbles' O is pretty bland. Mumbles didn't have the complete skillset to rebuild a FB program that was in the condition it was when he arrived but to give him some credit it was better when he left than when he arrived.

Interesting post...they had a feature on chryst this morning on espn game day and you couldn't tell if that guy won the lottery or just had a wet fart...just as bland as they come

Yes, I agree with you. He left the defense both scheme and talentwise a mess. His recruiting was very spotty but where he did have some success was at OL, TE and RB.

Thoughts?

-This should be judged after the next 5 games. Most predicted a 2-2 start, but many thought 3-1 was possible. Turns out 4-0 was possible, and we are stuck at 2-2. Pitt will be favored in 4 of the next 5 games. Now with the team backed against a corner with that UNC loss, its time to see how this team responds. This program has only won 8 games once in the last 5 seasons, last year. Winning at least 8 again is a step in the right direction.

Wouldn't the blame no plan for Boyd leaving fall under Chryst?
Narduzzis players are in their first year. He did bring in numbers at the
WR position with the last class.

All I can say is Chryst went 6-6 all three seasons, which included losses to Youngstown State and Akron. Narduzzi went 8-4 after one season, and by most projections will go 8-4 or 7-5 this season.
There are issues, and Narduzzi is not beyond criticism, but that looks better to me.

Are you talking about the Mark Dantonio feature or the Paul Chryst feature?
