Im going to attend the game tomorrow just curious what other d1 recruits they have other than Mathews and wade.
I see Pitt is pretty high on Mathews their qb, assuming Pitt is recruiting him as a WR?

I am going to try to go also. Live about 15 minutes away.

I saw a different score (still a loss), but 17 would be impossible for Clairton (they are notorious for not having a placekicker).

Clairton's season is over ... lost to Berlin 35-17 tonight.
Wow. Don't know anything about this Berlin????? But Clairton is an absolute power year in and year out. Shocking to me at least.

In fairness, they play pretty much nobody in the WPIAL on a yearly basis.

Oh no doubt. But Jeannette ran through AA most years. They are now in A and Clairton destroyed them. And people thought Jeannette could've beaten AAAA schools in some years, specifically when Pryor was there. Totally agree, but I think at least in AA Clairton would still win most games. They have given Pitt a number of great players.

Dumb people, sure. I mean would they have had a chance to beat the worst AAAA schools on any given night? Yeah, sure. But they would have gotten smacked around by any of the decent or better AAAA schools.

Clairton will never move up. Love crushing teams and getting numbers and throwing blindside blocks.
Even alot of times if its vs basically jv teams.

Why should they move up? They already have one of the smallest enrollments in the WPIAL.

I don't know, a little better competition? Something different?
After the streak, not much left to prove in A.
The D1 recruits they have hardly if ever even play a game vs another.

What you have to realize is that with small schools these things run in cycles. 5 years from now Clairton may be struggling to go .500.

Five years from now, there may not BE a Clairton HS (voice of experience here--Duquesne HS alumnus).

I agree, and I'm not suggesting that Clairton play up. That's entirely up to the people running the school district. However if 5 years from now Clairton were struggling to go .500 they would simply move back down to class A. These decisions go in two year cycles, so there is nothing that would prevent Clairton from playing in AA for two seasons and then switching back to A two years from now if that wasn't working out.

I hear you. My Windber team played Duquesne in the playoffs the last year of their existence.
Duquesne was state runner up that year in Class A (I believe they lost to the Southern Columbia juggernaut) -- former blast from the past Elijah Fields was the Dukes star. But I think they had one more year of ball in 2006, but weren't that great the last year or something -- at least I don't remember anything significant happening. Then the school folded. I believe West Mifflin is/was actually suing the state because they had to take on Duquesne students. It was a mess. As far as Clairton struggling, they should be okay for a few more years, they got a pretty solid group coming up over the next few years.

They had several fumbles and not as stout on defense. The grass lid they played on no doubt limited their speed advantage. I realize they play on grass at home but this team really matched up to them and negated their speed advantage.

Really surprised by Lamont Wade's attitude. Total "me" guy. Wouldn't even stretch or huddle up with his team after halftime. Being the player that he is I expected him being a leader not a finger pointer.
Talent wise he is legit.
