Hi All:

Obviously, I'm a Clemson fan. I'm embarrassed to say that I know virtually nothing about your program and haven't watched more than a few minutes of any game this year. Exception: I did watch probably 60% of the Pitt/VT game, but was in and out while it was going on, I didn't get much of a feel beyond it was a pretty good game.

So, I'd appreciate any info you feel like you could share and in return, I'll answer any questions you might have.

Welcome, Clemson has a great University, Football Program, Coach, Players, and Team and it is an Honor, Privilege, and Grand Opportunity to play against the Tigers in 6 days!

By the way, can you tell Pitt Posters what your opinion is of Clemson Athletic Director Dan Radakovich, he grew up in Pennsylvania and went to Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I was told he wanted to be the AD at Pitt once, but Pitt went with Steve Pederson.

Any opinions about job Dan is doing at Clemson? Many of us are very happy Pitt is in the ACC and look forward to many great years to come. Last year, many Pitt Lair Posters wanted Clemson to Beat Bama!

This year we can't wait to play Clemson because it will be a measurement how far Pitt Football Program has to go to compete with a Top 5 Team and Top 10 Program?

All week to discuss, learn and share about the coming game, universities and welcome again.

Welcome Clemson, the school that gave the world The Paw..... How do the Tigers decide when to break out the purple uniforms? Which Death Valley is crazier (football atmosphere-wise), LSU or Clemson? Would you rather win the ACC title or beat South Carolina?

On Pitt: The Panthers play an unusual defensive scheme. They don't use a secondary. This confuses opposing quarterbacks for two or three plays.

"They don't use a secondary"......I gotta admit, that was funny! The sad part is, it seems to be true.

If you had to play Pitt instead of Nebraska in the 1981(Jan82) Orange Bowl, you would have lost

I am at the airport coming home from the game just read about our secondary and busted out laughing. Two thumbs up

All you need to know is this. Deshaun Watson will vault into the Heisman lead after this coming weekend.

Most Pitt fans will agree Clemson will prob put up at the very least 40, possibly 50-60 pts again.

We're very average and looking at a 6-6/7-5 type year, as has been par for the course lately.

I've always respected Clemson and generally cheer for them, and will continue to do so this year, except for this weekend obviously.

The interesting thing about Clemson is that for some period of time they too seemed to be cursed or "Clemsoned". Obviously they have erased that blight. We can only hope to do that here at Pitt.

I think that he's pretty well liked in Clemson. He's really pushed for more/better facilities for football, basketball, and baseball. The new football complex is going to be crazy good for sure. Right now, everyone is on the same page as far as Clemson athletics is concerned from the president down to the players. He's getting some of the credit for that as he should.

About the only thing I've heard negative is that he may be a bit "soft" on buyouts and such for coaches when he is representing the University. He apparently left GT in a bind with this and he really let Dabo have a great buyout (very favorable to him, not so much for Clemson) during the last negotiations.

Bottom line is that you don't hear his name much and Clemson's athletic dept hums along. That's the mark of a good AD.

Under Tommy Bowden, the players voted on the uniforms... So it was whatever.

Now purple unis are only for military appreciation day (tied to the purple heart). That's the only time we wear them.

I've never been to LSU's version. I've heard the noise level is pretty comparable as is the atmosphere. I've also heard that it can get really scary for opposing fans at LSU at night games (I'm talking fearing for your life kind of scary... especially if LSU loses). That doesn't happen at Clemson. So there you go...

The smart answer is of course, the ACC Title. But sometimes I'm just not that smart. Realize that the South Carolina game is always the last regular season game of the year for both teams. I'd compare it to dessert. You can have a good meal or a bad meal, but finishing up with a great dessert kind of makes the experience either way.

Plus, I really hate South Carolina. I'm talking burn down Williams-Brice Stadium, bulldoze everything so that not one brick stands on another, hall all the scraps by ship to the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench and dump them there. Finally, salt the bare ground so that nothing can grow there again.... Yeah, that sounds about right.

Dan is also very well respected among National Football and Basketball Colleagues with much input in making Athletics better.

When trying to hold onto and keep a great coach the University is often on the tougher road of being on the other end of all negotiations due to other Universities wanting to take the coach away. Clemson seems to be perfect for Swinney and Swinney for Clemson. I like Coaches that come from Alabama like Swinney! At only $5.75 Million he is a Bargain Buyout!

Bottom line is that you don't hear his name much and Clemson's athletic dept hums along. That's the mark of a good AD.
Yeah, Dan makes sure others get the credit and you are correct that is the proper sign of character and smarts for an AD. Pitt had an Athletic Director that thought Pitt & Nebraska Athletics was the "University of Pederson" personal ego and pockets for his consultants ahead and made it about him with horrible judgment and was finally bought out twice to get rid of him. Dan knows the best of Western Pennsylvanian and the ACC would have been way better selection.

Then I guess Pitt and Clemson are kind of kindred spirits in that way. Many Pitt fans feel the same about Penn State. At least you guys get to settle it on the field every year. We only get three more games with them then they go back to their heated "rivalry" with Rutgers, Temple, and Maryland. Oh I forgot, they're "Unrivaled" so I guess not.

Really looking forward to this bucket list weekend. The game itself not so much though unfortunately.

With respect to our personal Evil Empires -- Chicken U and State Penn -- I think we understand each other. Your cleanup of the Columbia campus -- we Yinzers call it "redding up" -- would work well in Happy Valley.

What is this 35 year thing? We are not the Pirates who didn't have a WINNING season in 30 some years, no comparison. Steelers went 40 years. We have had thrills, chills and tears at the end of the seasons but at the end there is only 1 champion, the rest are all losers no matter what your record.

You will see a goal line defense at the 50 yard line. They really really want to stop the run. We have an 3-Technique interior D-lineman you need to fear, his name is AA Ron Donald and look for our 340 lb DL beast named LeSean Gilbert also. On offense, we have a guy named Moses Fralic on the OL. He will part your D Line like the Red Sea. But if you can stop the run, we will employ the air raid offense led by our WR's 6'4 Fitzpatrick Lawrence and 6'1 Antonio McBryant, Devin Streeter, Taylor McBoid, and 6'5 TE Mike Ditkis

I think we'll score some points on you. You'll more than return the favor by scoring a lot more.

Everyone's offense seems to have "career games" against our defense (and this is only a slight exaggeration).

What's the name of that famous sandwich shop at Clemson? And what should I know about campus buildings, landmarks, etc?
